Where are people from?

Hi everyone! As someone who has been on this website since around 2007 steadily until about 2014, then took some years hiatus, I'm back. Something I've been wondering since I've returned is that when people comment on posts, and on their own profiles themselves, I've noticed that nowadays not as many people include their location. I'm not sure if its out of people being more private, or whatever other reasons there may be, but I noticed not as many folks share where they're from now, as opposed to years ago. I'm a curious dude, I wonder about random stuff, and, since I've had my location (I went with the generic "New York City", but if I got more specific I'd say Brooklyn) included with my profile since I made my account. I guess my curiosity is kinda like residential zones in SC4, I'm curious about who plays SC4, whether they're city dwellers like myself, suburbanites, or rural residents. Wondering if my observation on this is a thing, and also wondering where folks in the community are from. Not looking for any specific response, but comments are always fun to read, so don't be shy if you have anything to say about any of this. : )

From NYC in general, and Haitian/Latino NYC in specific of my youth.  Adult life a large part in NY/NJ.

Now, residing in Greater China aka The Province of Taiwan.

I speak English, Kreyòl (combination of French and about 7-10 West African languages spoken in Haiti), Puertorican/Nuyorican Spanish, French, German (just enough to get me in trouble and maybe you as well), Cantonese (Chinese; language of Southern China), and Mandarin (Chinese; official language).  I notice the site has at least uno Borinqueño on the NAM team.

Where am I from ... I haven't got a clue!  Home is wherever you feel happy.

I am just trying outlast COVID.  I have been in so long that it looks like out to me.

---

OP,

Brooklyn ... for sure ... Crown Heights/Eastern Parkway, Sunset Park/4th Ave, Flatbush & Nostrand-CUNYBC, Little Chinatown/8th. Ave, ... food you will never find here ... Christy's Jamaican Beef Patties up on 7th. Ave, Lechonerias along 4th. Ave, Empanadas along Fulton St, and Haitian Akasan on Lincoln Place.  Now, I am lucky to even see a taco.  And beans?  The Chinese make desert out of them with sugar!  I almost gagged the first time, but after 40 years I am slowly adjusting.  Very slowly.

I think I am going to cry!  Mwen vle tounen lakay.

I could say I'm living in the very center of central europe - if only I knew where Putin stops. Maybe it's the future eastern border?

Originally I am from india but currently living in the USA. Here for my masters program and recently started getting back into SC4 after so many years. I remember being a kid and playing this game. But now with all this mods support and more, this is going to be super fun!

I love Heidelberg my parents were married there and I spent some time there in my early 20s      it used to be a lot closer to the Soviet Empire and hopefully will stay

as far as possible from the new Eastern Empire

I live in Vienna, Austria in a big (more exactly: very long) Art déco residential block. This is the one of its four inner courtyards where my apartment is located (picture taken in December 2007):

Meanwhile the building has undergone its second renovation. The lampposts are painted green now.

Do you know that the German name of Vienna, Wien, stems from the homonymous river? In fact this river is a dry trickle most of the time. The comparatively huge dimensions of the concrete riverbed therefore seem almost grotesque. But today, they have proven to be insufficient:
