Hello,

Did you know that Tri Rismaharini, former mayor of Surabaya that recently appointed to be the Indonesia's Minister of Social, actually plays SimCity. Here is the interview with the mayor:

(In Indonesian, as usual)

She said in 0:42,

Long time ago, I used to play online game (of) SimCity. So, I was using it to plan the city. In that time, I wasn't a mayor. I had some gold medals from the citizens in the online game.

FYI, she had been in charge of governing Surabaya since 2010 to December 23 this year due to minister appointment. So, she must have played SimCity 4 or SimCity Societies since SC4 also features online gaming, tho only for maps etc, otherwise known as SimCityscape, not true online experience. Personally, she could have played SC4. But, there's no exact info online which version she played.

In the show tho, Tukul, the host, gave a tablet to her, so she could have been playing SimCity franchise to this day, specifically BuildIt. The BuildIt presence also amplified by the image shown on the screen behind the show.

After that, she told the experience of managing RCI, civics, budgeting, utilities, and landscaping. Speaking of, landscaping, she told the experience how to build lakes, something that can be only done straightforward in BuildIt since 13 if I'm not mistaken doesn't have any terraforming tools aside from road elevation hotkeys and even then, they cause terrain changes indirectly and nondestructively. Or, she could have played SC3000 or 2000. She also told that upgrading a building causes a protest. I don't really know which SC version that doing that. What I really know is if you're really bulldozing the building first and then rezone it then obviously there'll be a risk.

In the end, she did a park rearrangement.

What do you think? Should ST host an exclusive interview with her? Sorry for my words. Thanks.

Additional info: she also said the almost same statement in 2015 Popcon Asia. She said she played the game to, "stimulate emotion and mind." "It also forces me to lay out the city comprehensively. I must think all sectors."
