Is there an all in one Japanese Mod pack that you can DL?

I am quite a bit of a newbie here on the modding scene, however I do love my Japanese mods after watching it from YouTube and having been to Japan myself, I would very much like to re create that whilst stuck here in my own home during Covid 19 lock down. I do want to know, is there a pack of mods all together someone has compiled as I have so many tabs already opened, something like that would very much save my time downloading kb/s each one and scrolling through those tabs.

I also use SimCity 4 GOG edition, would that effect the Modding scene for me? Also Again, if anybody knows of an all in one pack of mods just to auto install, I would be happy to know about it.

Sadly packs like you are requesting don't exist, because of long-standing community rules that prevent re-distribution of the works of others. Not only will you need to find all the mods manually, but you'll also find a lot of content no longer available, which is also a shame.

I totally agree with you that having such curated packs would be far easier on new and returning players, probably many existing ones too. Sadly, any attempt to make such things a reality get consistently blocked by those who don't want to see the benefits of this approach. If you want to see that discussion, you can find it here.

Ah I do see, that is a bit of a shame, though then now what, like you said, with those multiple tabs open and some of those mods don't work or are dead, what do I do now? As I very much like to re-do Tokyo or even some of the other places from Japan. Having a compiler for mods would be so nice. but again, what exactly could you suggest for me then? If you could be kind in pointing out some mods that do actually work instead of the SC4 Japanese links as some of them are mostly dead

Oh and not new to SC4 as I had been playing it ever since it first came out, I still have the old CD from a magazine that gave it away. I miss those times, I so hate steam.

Well first off I feel your pain, in my opinion our community is still letting down normal people, who can't be expected to dedicate mammoth amounts of time to finding, downloading, organising and tweaking mods. The average person just wants to be able to play with mods and start doing so with the least hassle possible. It's really a shame that we have failed to come up with a solution still in 2020.

In the past 5 years especially, there has been a steady stream of sites going offline and disappearing. Some of that content would have been preserved through other sites, something we are trying to do here on ST too, but again for more 'political' reasons, it's taken a long time to make changes to allow this. To the point that today, those with either the knowledge of what's lost or who could provide copies of such, has shrunk to a much smaller pool than it once was.

Whilst this isn't a unique problem for Japanese content, the culture in Japan with regards to how most of the content was distributed, has meant the situation is especially bad. The tendency there, not to upload to larger, community sites, has made things worse in respect of maintaining legacy files. People move on from modding, leave their stuff online, but rarely consider how to best ensure it remains available. Like with a lot of the internet, companies change terms, people switch accounts and servers go offline forever. Through these things, the amount of available content has been severely reduced.

If you are looking to recreate Tokyo, obviously that's going to require a lot of custom content. But I think you probably want to start with some things like the Japanese NAM Facelift Mod and Japanese Street Mod, because these two are going to make your cities and networks look much more Japanese. See here for links/details, note that "not densen" = No Wires and is an optional part of the Street mod. Many people make the mistake of installing this and wondering why the power/phone lines are then missing. I've also personally made an English tutorial detailing the Jap NAM Facelift mod and how to install it. I hope one day to do the same for the street side mod, because it takes a bit of trial and error to make that work correctly.

Outside of that, you are probably going to want as many buildings as you can get, small houses and apartment blocks are thankfully in reasonable supply. The harder part would be getting all the skyscrapers and uniquely Tokyo landmarks.

Hide and Seek, is probably the largest collection of Jap content, but it's not the easiest site to browse if you don't read Japanese. That said, you can use Google Translate or the like to see the site in a language you do understand. But if you take the time to work through the site, there is a treasure trove of stuff there.

Moonlight was one of the most skilled Japanese modders, his works will help to add a very Japanese feel to your game. From canals to stations and his El-Rail and Monorail (BTM) re-skins, not to mention a bunch of useful buildings and even rice paddies, I consider his mods essential.

BriPlazza made a lot of Japanese stations, along with other things, again quite essential for Japanese style regions.

SOMY has created some quite spectacular models, sadly not everything is still available, but you should check them out.

ukiSim is another creator worth checking out too.

Of course there are plenty more sites out there too, I can't list everything myself, but the information in this thread should help. There is also some Japanese content available on the STEX and LEX exchanges, art128 in particular has some indispensable high quality Japanese buildings.

Lastly, if you are desperate for something in particular, you can always ask in this thread and the community will try to assist you.

Thank You So Much for some working links at least that are working, I'd find it funny if in the end I'd have to hire someone to mod the game for me XD But I will have to look it up on my spare studying time, many thanks for looking into the Tokyo one's and Yes I don't want to sound dumb or stupid, but finding all those mods mixing them up just seems so long in my opinion too. Many thanks for looking out for the community which i am so glad is actually still going on, i don't actually feel so old now

So I decided to try it, and risk it, however thankfully no trojan or virus that could be of harm, but it didn't seem to find a lot of files to replace, so I don't know why it didn't fully work. Maybe it was meant for Steam or Origin. Not for GOG
