Help with building Cul-de-Sacs

I'm using NAM 36 (first time user) but I cannot figure out how to get cul-de-sacs to work. Whenever I saw tutorial videos and screenshots for SC4, I would see the draggable streets and roads end in a cul-de-sac by default, but my game doesn't do that (just the classic dead end). When I did the install, I did the complete install. I've checked again looking through the custom install and don't see a checkbox for it there. When I play with included SAM features, those skins do the cul-de-sacs, but not the original Maxis roads. Is this feature not a part of the NAM or am I missing something? Thanks!

By default the game does not include Cull de Sacs, but adding them is a very simple texture override. You may find some SAM sets used Cull de Sacs by default, but I'm sure it's not all of them, for example SAM2, 7 & 8 do not include this by default.

I'm not sure if there is perhaps a problem with the NAM36 installer that prevents them from being installed, since there is an option for them. Bear in mind any texture mods you have installed that override the NAM, could be the reason why your not seeing them. For certain though, the option in the NAM37 installer does work, so if nothing's conflicting, you may want to consider upgrading. Otherwise there are stand-alone mods with such pieces available on the exchanges.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

I have attached a link to show what I'm looking for. At the 1:35 minute mark he starts extending the roads and you can see the cul-de-sacs just automatically appear. The NAM is the only mod I have installed (and the high $$$ industrial fix), so there shouldn't be a conflict. I'm avoiding the 37th version of the NAM for now because of Java, but where would I see the option for 36? Or should I add in a separate mod? The one in the video seems ideal and I hope to find a way to have them appear like that with basic roads and streets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6t3NRgzbOw

For NAM 36, run the installer again with a Custom install and ensure the item "Cull-de-Sacs" is selected under Road Textures and Markings. Note this covers the Roads and Streets, the later for US texture sets only.

I actually have these in my files, because they are an option for my texture mods. If all else fails, you can load the following attachment after the NAM and then you can have Cull-de-Sacs on Roads, Streets and the OWR network.

    Cull-de-Sacs.zip

Just select either the US or EU variant as desired and make sure it loads in a folder prefixed z____, otherwise it won't load after z___NAM or show in game.

You do know Java is only required to run the installer? After that if you have some problem with it being installed, you can remove it. But frankly as a NAM user, you are going to want a copy of Java installed. This is because every new version will require Java, since our new installer was coded with it. But even before NAM37, it's been necessary to run the Custom Compiler and TSCT tools, the former of which is especially important if you don't use every NAM feature, because it will keep your game running more optimally.

Thanks for directing me to the Road Textures. I couldn't find it before! I guess the default "full install" doesn't include them.

Probably because they are a cosmetic option. It's not the only NAM feature that only get's installed when a Custom Install is used though.
