sometime ago i was figuring out what kind of city to do. then i decided to make a city but do it in a way that the YouTuber GrayStillPlays would, so i did just that. despite the fact that everybody is breathing in constant CO2 from all the industries, its somehow a successful metropolis with $20+ Million and 165K people

(also im still getting used to the forums so im sorry from the bottom of my heart if this is in the wrong place lol)

In the picture, the industrial buildings in your industrial complex have been changed from dirty to hitech ones. As far as I know, this can be possible with really low tax rates for I-HT and highly educated middle-class or higher-class citizen. Planting trees also helps. What I observe from the pictures and the description are you don't plant trees probably, the tax isn't set too low, lots of skyscrapers, and you have cap-lifting buildings: stadium, stock exchange. So, my guess is you may have a radical growth mod. Maybe, you installed the Radical Demand Mod. Or, you may installed CAM with Skyscraper configuration.

This is my guess. If others want to add, please reply here. Thanks.

For the size of your city, I would say that 165K population is actually low.  :uhm:  But since your Sims aren't leaving, there is something about your city they like.  Are your taxes really low?  Is your funding really high?  Those are two things they might like, and thus they are hanging around.  What are your services like?  How many fire/police stations, schools, bus stations, etc?  If you're overbuilding those, people will stay, too.  Something's off balance in favor of your Sims.  Check your budget and ordinances.  If you have any monuments, demolish them.

it could be because there is more industrial/commercial than residential hahaha, plus the whole region isnt something im taking uber serious, just something to do in my spare time, which is basically loading up a city and dropping random bits and pieces of stuff lol

Have you tried a nuclear power plant in the middle of a residential area?  That should be fun.  Maybe go into God mode and set off an earthquake or tornado.  Then leave all the roads demolished. *

Hey, that could be fun.  Several nuclear power plants that explode.  But then again, the Sims might enjoy glowing in the dark.
