Hi I'm a silly sally and just started playing 2013 for the first time

I know this game is very much dead on the forums and modds have been not been worked on in years. But anyways I'm happy to be here and i also play SimCity 4. My #4 original copy I cannot get to run and my other is a cracked version that I know isn't welcome here. So anyways 4 had pissed me off so I went to origin and bought 2013. So I just wanted to say hi and I exist unlike in high school...

Hiya, @SorryImLate. Welcome to Simtropolis.

Since I know nothing about SC2013, I'll mention that the original disc version of SimCity 4 no longer works because MicroSloth borked the DRM thinger it needs to validate the disc when starting up the game. (And you are correct, we don't allow discussion of a cracked version.) Should you decided you do want to play SC4, it's recommended to get the digital version from Gog. They do put it on sale for about 5 bucks (USD) twice or thrice a year. If you do get it, download the offline version which is DRM free. (There is some sort of game manager called Galaxy, but it's really geared towards newer games so skip that option.)

I think a couple of those don't qualify for the current nominating season. And you co-wrote one of them, so we'd have to share the award, which means we'd have to take turns putting it on our mantels. Very uncomfortable.

Thanks for the info on SC4. that is a great help. Its funny that I need to buy that game again. I was just looking at some of my old pc disks and almost all of them are older than both my kids. I was just lecturing the boy about taking care of things because I still have my original gamecube idk 18 years old. Its actually older than both the kids combined...

 

Thanks for the nomination guys!! Just for the record we know how things go with sharing a award... Personally I believe there should be a runner up award as well just to be fair. And hell while we are at it lets to a participation trophy as well! JK.... Lets start a submission sticky and we could do a yearly or quarterly poll to see who wins. But then again someone might take it too far and start posting ridiculous threads all the time and nothing would make sense. HEY just like the map sizes in SC2013 lol! Sorry i'm typing out loud instead of thinking what to write. That is all.. thanks everyone and I am glad to be a part of the community

Speaking of which, @Cyclone Boom mentioned to me about @Haljackey being able to chat with tech support at EA and get the correct, updated digital version from them for free. Just need the installation code from the original game.

Yep. I just grabbed the serial number from my old SimCity 4 manual and gave tech support the code. Took a couple pics to show that it was legit as the code is expired according to Origin.

Just make sure you specify SimCity 4 over and over. Despite this, I the customer service representitive kept thinking I wanted The Sims 4. They transfered me to someone else, who upon verification of my SimCity 4 code, ended up giving me The Sims 4

I called out the error and they fixed it without much trouble.

I suggest you give yourself at least an hour for on-and-off chat with EA support. Good luck!

Very honest topic) Can we ask questions in here which probably obvious for experienced players?

I couldn't find solutions (at less none of them worked for me) for issue when residents can't find work or shops. Is it possible to solve at all?

Questions are welcome because when starting out many things are not obvious. I would recommend starting a topic of your own. And it will depend on which game you have questions about for where it should go. (We are currently in the SC2013 forum, but the discussion has centered around the OP's trouble with SC4.)

Hi, this is good to know someone else playing as well. I am just back to play SC2013 recently and happened to be here again, took me few minutes to get back the login.

Never too late and never too outdated, its still a good game.

Me too, I just like SimCity 4 and SimCity 2013, and I'm still playing it at least 4 hours each week.
I wish if I had a lot of money, I will make EA create a SimCity 6 (or an appropriate SimCity 5). Too bad, I don't have :-(

What I think is so sad is that modding is stopped.
