Props on vertical building faces - is it possible?

For Cities:Skylines it seems to be good practice to create prop assets or prop asset packs containing assets to be re-used, for instance on multiple buildings. I have seen them for antennas, lamps, chimneys, flower pots and so on.

Now I got the case that some of my buildings have the same type of street lamp attached to the side (or corner) of several buildings. Of course I could release them as asset but I wonder if it is possible to attach such prop to the side of a building in the asset editor. I am not aware how to set a vertical placement. Or maybe it needs another mod to achieve this?

Does anyone here have experience with such situation?

Hi !

I am not sure if I understood you correctly... if so, than there is an easy solution to your "problem". Load your asset in to the editor and just put the prop at the wall/side or wherever you want it. No mods needed. Most of the vanilla commercial buildings have the billboards attached to the walls, for example...

There's an interesting caveat to all of this. When you place a prop in the asset editor it seems to have a flag that remembers if the prop is "on ground" or "on mesh." The flag is set when you first place the prop. So if you place a prop initially on the side of a building, you can use "move it" to move the prop in all 3 dimensions. But if you initially place the prop on the ground, you will never be able to lift it up into the air with "move it."

This technique can be used to move props into wacky locations... like to put a main-building prop on a sub-mesh or sub-building, or floating in the air. As long as you plop it first on some side of the main mesh, you can move it to anywhere.
