Hi I'm Joesocwork, member from way back who sat out for a few years to be a family guy.  Cut my game playing teeth on the original SimCity,  LOVED SimCity 4, and even played The Sims with my daughter during my SimTropolis days.  The kiddoes have now grown (or just about right there) and I've started exploring the games of my earlier days. I've haven't seen a real successor yet to SimCity 4, at least by EA/Maxis yet, but I am becoming more impressed with Cities Skylines. It seems to have the similar mechanics, realism, and support of fans and modding community as SimCity 4 but missed in the later versions of SimCity and Cities XL,  ...and with improved graphics.  So I thought I would come back to check things out, learn about the game, while seeing the site again. It's cool to see that SimTropolis still same online community feel that it had back in the day.  I'm sorry about the passing of John Winterton, AKA "A Nonny Moose"; he was really a nice guy.  Anyway, hi! *:8)

Hi Joesocwork,

Welcome back!  You're a name I've heard about as being one of the prominent early contributors to ST. *:)

It's great when longstanding members of the community return after a long hiatus, and even though the site will have changed a lot since being actively involved here, I'm sure you'll quickly find your feet again. And wow, it sure is amazingly true how SC4 is still going strong now over a decade and a half later.

For Cities Skylines, I've heard there's many creative and talented folk in the modding side, and lots of potential there to expand the game. Also the developers keep releasing new expansion packs, so there's aspects which can extend the gameplay in certain areas. For me I was fortunate enough to trial out the base game for a short while before release, although I soon found myself focussing back on SC4 since the graphical requirements were too demanding for my computer. The great thing is both games offer something different, and however which way you'd like to go, CSL is certainly worlds apart by learning from the mistakes of where SC13 went wrong.

As an important side note...

I do notice how you've got an existing main account @Joesocwork where you'd made all your previous postings to ST. Also since you were once an Admin, I see that resultantly belongs in the Luminary group which grants additional privileges including extra site attachment storage.

So I'd like to offer you 4 options:

  1. Reclaim your original account:  If having trouble accessing this, we can setup a temporary password from where you can then sign in. Then switch over your email as would be desired, and you can set a password via Account Settings.
  2. Merge all content:  Have your submitted posts and everything moved to your account here. Then we can optionally grant the extra permissions from the Luminary group. Also if wishing to have the username or email changed back (or to anything you'd prefer).
  3. Keep as is:  Continue using this account and consider it a fresh start with standard Member privileges.
  4. New account:  If preferring to register a brand new account, that's fine too. We can free your current email address up here and allow it to be re-registered.

Glad you could join us again, and it's completely up to you. *;)

Oh, now here's a name I remember from back then! Although I don't think we had much (if any) personal interaction, I remember @Joesocwork as one of the handles that belonged to higher-profile ST users. Cool that you came back after all this time! *:8)

Hiya, Joesocwork. Welcome back to SimTropolis! *:)

You won't recognize me as I'm a much later addition to the site. Jump right in with either Skylines or SC4 or both. While I don't follow any of the CSL forums, I do know we are still active in the SC4 sections.

Hi Joesocwork,

Welcome back to Simtropolis! You also won't recognize me because I'm not a staff and more importantly, newer than you. If you have a beefy computers, then you should try Cities: Skylines. When the sale comes (tomorrow, maybe?), the game is becoming much cheaper, around half of the normal price. I would buy the game but my laptop only have integrated Intel GPU. If not, you should check out my guide (maybe moving to the forum is a good idea):

Thanks.
