SCDawg: Oh, now I know what you're talking about! It's because I wanted to keep all the lot sizes in the area 1x2, so that only low and middle class would grow. I hope that makes some sense to you. Thanks for the awesome compliment (made me blush ) and the comment!

Wow. Just wow. RHF, this is totally AMAZING! As usual, your farms are superb, and the story is so great that you ought to write for a living (I'd buy your stuff!). These citys are beautiful, and it's great to have you CJing again. But what happened to Lifelines? It was great! Oh well... anyhoo, this is really fabulos, and I'll definitly keep reading it!!

Bookworm: Thanks! Glad you like the farms, and the story too! With all this encouragement from you guys, who knows, I could head down Nealos's path! (if you haven't heard, he's getting his novels published, very exciting! I'm so happy for him!) As for Lifelines, well...it just wasn't doing it for me. It wasn't a long-term thing, just enough to keep my in the game, but I knew eventually I had to top LOAA. So, here we are! Once again, thanks.

All: I've already got two more updates ready. Crazy, I know, but that's what happens when you build a city you think might be your best ever on a small city tile. A few more comments and I can post these puppies! Thanks for the support everyone, I know I sound like a broken record but I really, truly mean it.

Well, it doesn't look like I'm going to get anymore comments, so it's time for the next update!

We soon came to the first exit of the highway. Although there was no traffic under us, I was still amazed by the whole endeavour: I had never seen a highway in my life.



I had a surprise in store for Mr. Jones already prepared in Belmont. While he was sleeping and I was at the wheel, I made a call to the head honcho himself - Mayor Fitzpatrick. Once I had explained the situation, he gladly gave us an invitation to dinner and rooms at his mayoral mansion, as well as a tour of the city's places of interest the following day. We'd also see how the city's transportation system works so well, with commute times at record lows and the highway handling anything people could throw at it. After a short while, we arrived at the mansion.



Dave Fitzpatrick was not known for being malevolent, and he was a wonderful host that night. Over dinner we talked about the city's plans for the future, what Mr. Jones and I planned to do the rest of our trip, and anything else you could imagine. After an excellent meal of tenderloin and foie gras prepared by his renowned chef, Marcel LeBeau, we went out for our first tour while the sun was still out.

The city's transportation system works well for one reason: simplicity. If you live on the right side of the highway, you drive to work on a side street, as everyone over there works in the industrial park. However, if you live on the left side, you have 2 options. You could work downtown, or in the industrial park, which means you use the highway.

If you choose the latter and take the highway every morning and night, you get on at Exit A-West Side. Of course, if you happened to live on the right side and work on the left (which no one does) you'd take Exit B-East Side and travel until Exit D-Newport, but that's another story, one we won't be talking about. Anyways, the exit!



Then, you'd hit the T-intersection, meaning you could go west to Newport or east to the industrial park. We'll obviously take east.



Next, you have to travel up MacGregor Hill, which basically signifies that you're almost there. When we had the 'Eyes Closed Driving Time Trials' here last year, most people did MacGregor Hill with ease, that's how nicely the transportation department built the highway.



Finally, you take Exit C-Industrial Park, and you're home free! Total time to travel - he checked his watch - 12 minutes. Not too bad.



The sun was beginning to go down, and after a long day of travelling and fine dining and touring, it was time to tuck in. We headed back to the mansion and passed out, the next day beckoning.

Those no-truck signs are interesting (esp. to a roadgeek like me) on the roads. Are they just eye-candy or do they really prevent trucks from going on the roads?

Yeah, while I'm not the Radiohead Fan, I do consider myself a fan of Radiohead. I hear they're coming out with an album this year, eager to hear what it's like.

Hi RHF, you update faster than we (your crowd) can respond!

Great updates. Loveliy country side. I somehow missed that brown farm, what you call bakery, where Mr. Jones and I got those five loafs. Can you direct me to that one it is a very nice farmstead.

 

I like the story, sorry to hear this guy has ALS. Horrible, good to point this disease out to the rest of the world, it gets better understood when more people learn from it.

 

Keep us overloaded with those updates please!

Hey Jamie. I'm sorry for not dropping by lately. I was totally caught up by RL.

I'm impressed by what you've done so far. Your writing is excellent once again, from humorous to emotional and very intense. I like the surprising twists, even if they're negative. Good and bad is close to each other and although the end is in sight, you still fill the story with life. I also like that you connect the mood of your story to the places and pictures (e.g chapter 6: the Lakeview Cabin).

Talking about the pictures: I really like the close-up pictures portraying special places such as the farms or the railroad tracks along the river (chapter 2). The farms look very nice. Beautiful job with that scenery.

I'm looking forward to your next update and you'll probably see me more often again here.

This won't be much of a story update, we're just touring around the more interesting spots in Belmont. Newport, the neighbouring city, now has about 17,000 residents, so expect some urbanity next update...

We drove through the suburbs, both west and east of the highway, marvelling at the lack of low-wealth homes. Mayor Fitzpatrick had somehow made everyone happy and rich, and it astounded me.







We stopped for lunch at Martina's, an Italian eatery famous for their meatball subs. We sat down in the outdoor food court, enjoying the saucy, cheesy, meaty delights before heading off again.



Heading south towards Little Belmont, we passed a small, quiet whistle stop and rail switch, nearby a small pond.



The farmland in the town was stunning. From grapes to corn to flowers to the odd El Conquistador agave plantation, the crops were bountiful and healthy. Little Belmont's downtown was mainly comprised of snack shops for the field workers and meeting places for the farmers themselves, signaling an agrarian atmosphere throughout.



When we got to the actual farmland, we couldn't believe our eyes. It was more beautiful than any picture, than any tale told: we were lucky to have experienced it ourselves.





However, the sun was beginning to lower in the Belmont sky, and like birds heading south at winter's first tip of the hat, we continued west to Newport, the largest town west of Grand Bay.

another great update.  100,000 thousand is pretty large compaired to Chesterfield, where i live(subruban St. Louis), St. Louis has about 3.2 Million people though, but i can't even acheive that population in the game, anyway great update, love the farmlands, may i ask a few questions though?  Good.  Where did you get that mod that makes the ground look like grass, instead of the sim city ground, also how did you get the farmlands different colors?  looks great can't wait to see more!!

nycsc4: I should've figured you lived in Chesterfield, considering the name of your CJ and all I can't even achieve 320,000 (most people I've ever had in a region is 200,000) so 3.2 million is definitely out of reach. The terrain mod is CycleDogg's, it's finally on the STEX now - just search under his name. The farms are all part of the wonderful BSC Farming EP - I'd suggest that you get some more info before delving into it, and that you are an avid fan of dependencies. Thanks for the comment, and a city we'll see in a later update has been named after you!

Great update, two thing jumped into my eyes:

1. that small cemetary without fences where the street roundabout cut a piece off - just great!

2. Great placement of PEG's small railyard next to PEG's seasonal woods and PEG's pons (almost everything PEg there ... ). especially ın the early years of the main lines (and at small railwaylines even longer) such small stations were build for supplying the steam engines with water!
(After all that critics at your RR design I am glad to be able to say: Great design!)

Aaack! Funny how much life complicates things. Lately I've barely had any time for any games or even ST. Actually, I've been pretty much fine with it, as things have been going great lately. I asked a girl to the upcoming NJROTC Navy Ball, and she actually said yes! then, just a couple of days later, I bought my own car. these, coupled with numerous other things have drastically improved my outlook lately. Of course, they've also clogged up my schedule, but I'll be able to deal with it, i think.

 

Now, back to what I originally logged on for...

 

I must say that this town of Belmont looks superb. even your highway system seems to have a certain something to it. And I must say, I am quite impressed with what you've written, too.

 

I'll be looking forward to any upcoming updates. Oh, and it's nice to see another fellow Beatles fan here. They are amongst my favorite bands.

I was looking at my goodbye thread from way back in last July, and it overwhelmed me. I couldn't believe the response, from the big dogs of the community to some of my very friends who comment in this CJ regularly. I know I'm a broken record, and super redundant, but you guys have no clue how thankful I am. It's absolutely amazing, the family atmosphere of this little site with 100,000 members, and you all make it possible for me; thank you so much. I'm probably going to get a little more active now, that message was so inspiring.

Anyways, I've got a basketball game to watch with the brahs, so keep on rockin' in a free world and du du du lu du...du du! (Nardwuar, for those Muchmusic fans out there )
