BSC Mac Archive

Am I the only one seeing what appear to be links, but which are inoperable? I'm getting frustrated trying to find the packages listed in these threads, as the links almost never work. Is it my browser? Or have some of these links been deactivated?

In either case, can anyone direct me to working versions? I'm really getting into downloading BATs that actually light up at night on my Mac.

LITP: I don't know what NDEX props you're talking about, nor which McDonalds, you have to be more specific.

Shooshie, when ST was most recently updated, links went dead, but the link in my sig to the BSC Mac Archive is fine. And for BATs that light up on Macs, look for the MacPacks by Goaskin on the STEX

So, does that mean that none of the properties in the BSC Mac Archive will light up at night? Only the MacPacks by GoaSkin? I've found a few that do light--maybe they weren't here. I don't remember where I got them now. A burger place, a lounge, a restaurant... I don't remember now which do and which don't. So I downloaded the BSC Mac archives thinking that perhaps someone has figured it all out, someone has done the converting... but not so? Are my hopes of a brilliantly lit, customized SC4 about to be dashed on the reality of half-baked Mac ports by Aspyr? I'm going to keep tinkering with these. There's got to be a way to make this work. Maybe that little Mac app, "The Cheat," could be utilized to change out some variables. Suppose that could be done? Shooshie

@ Shooshie: That would be cool, but I doubt it.

    @kbooms: The McDonalds: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&keyword=McDonalds%20V1&type=all

I searched and couldn't find it, and it said it would be at the MacArchive "soon". The Global Essentials is only in EXE format. It said a Mac version was at Dakota Park Place, but that just redirected me back and was not found.

kbooms1w is a BSC member, so unless he gets special permission from somebody else, he can only upload BSC stuff.

However, I did get special permission from SC4Meister to upload the NDEX Global Essentials.  See my signature for the link to my download site.

I don't want to put words in kbooms1w's mouth here, but I seriously doubt that the McDonalds you are referring to will ever be up at the Mac archive.   If you want it, just use FileJuicer on it.  I just tested it on that lot and it works fine.

As for any other requests.  I can speak for myself, and I believe kbooms1w is of the same mind here, that I will consider uploading major stuff, such as the NDEX Global Essentials.  However, I'm not using up my alotted space on mac.com for every single .exe lot on the STEX.  If you want it, go get FileJuicer and go get it.

MikeSeith's stuff can be downloaded from the STEX, they are in Zips, not installers, no need to put them at the Mac Archive.

SFBT Highway Bridge Construction Set is up (wasn't juicing properly). Just place the whole "SFBT" folder in your Document/.../Plugins folder.

For some reason, over the last month or two, the BSC Mac Archive has been getting slammed with usage. I'm currently at 90% of my allotted usage, and when I hit 100%, .Mac shuts it down automatically for a period of time.

Not sure why this is happening of late, it's never happened before. For the time being, the page will be password protected, and I'm not sure how I'll proceed in the future. I don't want to take it down, but I also don't want to pay extra to maintain it.

If you need the password, PM me, though I will say I will be giving priority to Mac users. In theory, I don't have a problem with PC users downloading from there, but since there are so many more PC users out there, it kind of defeats the purpose of the Archive if Mac users are end up losing access to it because of too much usage.

And just to be clear, I'm not "blaming" PC users, or anyone else, I have no idea why the traffic has spiked, could just be a few people "catching up" on downloading a ton of stuff, I'm just trying to keep .Mac from shutting it down and forcing me to pay more.

EDIT: Actually, the Archive will be down for a while, I'm going to be making some changes, don't know when exactly it will be back up, hopefully not too long.

Note: Anyone with Parallels can run the installers there -> they work without SimCity 4 installed, and afterwards just copy the My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins folder as appropriate.

If you're talking about the CSK bridges, those lots (and more like them) are available here (you need to register, but there's lots of other good stuff there too). I would also recommend getting FileJuicer, a program that will extract files from most of the .exe installers on the STEX.

how or where do you download them as .dat files?

File Juicer is the solution to getting the dat files from exe.

It's available under 'Mac OS X Software' in the Apple menu.

(Just repeating because I guess the answer keeps getting lost in pages)

I'm sorry if I didn't understand your question, but...

You only have to put plugins in the first of the two folders. It doesn't matter how they are organized, but it is useful to have different folders for different things (for example, a folder for bus stops, a folder for waterfront lots, a folder for landmarks, etc.).

That is because you are missing some dependancys. Go back to the place where you downloaded them and look to see if it says something about dependancys. Then download the needed files. Or you could look in the read-me for the same infomation.

Hamish, I 've understood it well but I gonna tried to better explain my self.

I need especially a organized list of all elements because it seems that it have there conflicts between some of these (some buildings were not paperboards but are now) and unfortunatly, some of read-me documents explain it needs dependancies which don't exist.... or explain anything...

I read that some of the elements were placed either in the file "Applications\SimCity4\SimCityData\Plugins" or in this one "Documents\SimCity4\Plugins" ; Am I wrong ?

Well, if someone 's got plugins file whish works, please, pretty please, can he make a list whish could help us.

    Thanks a lot.

Ok, no, not only .dat's work with simcity. There are others, for example .SC4LOT and .SC4MODEL (I think there are more) also work. If it comes with a download from simtropolis, then it will, generally, work with macs.

And for exe support read this.

All filetypes except exe can be used on macs (.dat, .SC4Lot, .SC4Model, .SC4Desc). Downloads that use an .exe installer can also be used on macs, using a shareware program, called FileJuicer, which can extract the aforementioned file types (as well as html, text and image files used for readmes).
