Ooh! I just saw these new small shops by SimGoober!
https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=12051

These are just what my cities need! Can we please get those, when you get a chance Kbooms1w?

Oh, and the Del Taco too, now that KevDan is part of BSC and apparently using EXE files.

I'm game, Kbooms.

I have these although what I'd intended to offer to send to you were the CSX updates 1 & 2 since they are a nice fit with the farming package. Orchid's, Molly's and so forth...

Let me know.

I would like to thank you kbooms for doing this. Even though I'm on a PC, those exe installers annoy me to hell!

I have a question, though. What does the file in the subfolder MACOSX do, and is it necissary for the lot to function?

    Thanks.

My guess is one of us accidently zipped up something that didn't need to be there, but without more specifics, can't be 100% sure, only 99.99%...

I'm having problems with some of the files, which won't unzip. I usually try with Stuffit Expander first (that's what my browser is set up to do), but below is an example using the command line unzip, in verbose mode, in case the error messages are useful:

    Saya:~/incoming feorag$ unzip -v FEPProps.zip.zip-link.zip
    Archive: FEPProps.zip.zip-link.zip
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
unzip: can't find zipfile directory in one of FEPProps.zip.zip-link.zip or
    FEPProps.zip.zip-link.zip.zip, and can't find FEPProps.zip.zip-link.zip.ZIP, period.

Which files? What's your computer specs?

I haven't done anything different packaging these, so this is a bit surprising...

Repairman syndrome has cut in, and left me confused! I re-downloaded the stubborn packages, and this time they unpacked nicely. When this happened in the past, that trick didn't work. Anyway, will let you know if I find any that are problematic even when redownloaded.

    Sorry to bother you.

This is so great... but... not all of the readme files indicate whether or not Rush Hour is necessary to use the lots. Specifically I'm having residential problems (lots of wrapped houses). I have done everything according to this thread. Am I missing something obvious?

Or should I just get Rush Hour and be done with it? i.e. does this thread (and all the BSC downloads) assume that you have purchased & installed RH?

Whatever the case, thank you, thank you, thank you.

    SimGoober is correct.

There are a limited amount of custom LOTS that will work without RH, see the Macs, what works, what doesn't thread, specifically the first page for pre-RH stuff, but it isn't very much.

If you want to play with custom content, get RH. If you have trouble with it, as some have with graphics and slow game play, there are a couple threads in this forum that discuss fixes.

Welcome to Simtropolis. If you have any more questions, ask away.....

Put some new stuff up at the BSC Mac Archive Page 2, nothing too complicated. Still not caught up...

For some reason the text and pictures aren't showing up, but I think you all can figure it out.

Hi, I'm new 1.gif and I had SC4 for PC, but now have a mac. I've been reading around and couldn't find a clear answer to some of my questions (sorry if this sounds really stupid). But I can only download buildings from this mac BAT archive? Or is it somehow possible to download from the official STEX? And I can download any regional map? My computer only has 256 ram so should I bother with RH? Or upgrade before even playing SC4?

First, welcome to Simtropolis. Questions aren't stupid, especially if you've looked around a bit trying to figure them out yourself.

If you only have SC (no RH), most custom content won't work, so I would suggest getting RH.

If you get RH, definitely get more RAM. I'm playing near the minimum reqs, and it can be a bit annoying at times.

With RH 99.9% of BATs/Lots will work. For some reason, .1% doesn't, don't know why, don't know which ones, occasionally someone will post about a problem with a certain BAT/Lot, but it's rare.

You can download from the STEX, but many of the BSC team members, as well as Pegasus, who keeps an archive of Zips at his own site, use an installer program that only works on PCs, so I post Zip files of them at the BSC Mac Archive, that's the only reason for it, we couldn't find an installer set up that would work on both platforms. Most everything else at the STEX is in Zip format, and can be downloaded by Macs no problem.

Maps work the same on Mac and PC.

I think that's everything, let me know if I missed anything (but look around first ;-)
