Custom sidewalk appearing on AC Team Runways

Hello! As of right now, I am not sure what is causing this tarmac to gain a sidewalk texture instead of the usual concrete tarmac one. I am trying to pin down the root of this problem, but if anyone knows any potential solutions, I will appreciate the help. By the way I am using the AC Team's airport sets.

Additionally, I might be overlooking a particular pack I am missing somehow? I'm browsing the dependency list to see if this is the case.

It is precisely because those tarmac pieces were lotted with conventional sidewalk textures. I guess that the solution would be to use a different TGI for the original maxis textures and to change the textures on the lot editor to that TGI.

That seems to be case until I installed the Lot Editor and started to edit the base textures of the affected lots. For an idea I came up with, I backed up my current Plugins folder and stored it in a separate location. Then I made a second Plugins folder except that I only copied the Aerospace Consortium folder (The airport lots I am currently using). I open the Lot Editor again to see if anything changed, and what happens next is that the correct base textures was somehow restored instead of the incorrect walking sidewalk texture. I did this test twice (with same result) and now I am very sure that something in my plugins folder is conflicting with some of the custom airport lots. Still thinking of what is the exact root of this problem...

When you made the new plugins folder, you let your sidewalk mod on the other one, hence allowing the original maxis textures to show instead. If you add the sidewalk mod to the new folder, they will be back on all the lots they are used, including the tarmac pieces, because they all refer to the same texture code, the one that's targeted to replace by the sidewalk now. That's why it's needed to create a differently coded texture, to be able to refer both to the maxis textures and the custom sidewalk ones.

This behaviour is known as an override. I.e. the sidewalk mod overrides and alters the original sidewalk texture. To restore the original ones, make sure you've the BSC Texture Pack v1 installed and use the sidewalk texture from there instead on the airport lots. Since this has a different ID that won't be overridden by your sidewalk mod. It's the only solution that works without ditching your sidewalk mod. The texture ID you want to use is probably 0x76C00000.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

Well, I made sure that BSC Texture Pack v1 was installed into my Plugins folder. Currently, I am using Paeng's Texture Mod, which is the definite source of the problem with the override.  However, as of now the SimCity 4 Lot Editor will not save those airport lots I need to edit the correct base texture due to this error "Failed to open SC4LOT file." I am still scouring the forums for a solution to this problem...

First off, I've moved this discussion into it's own thread, because the "Can't Find It" thread is not really the right place.

Some lots may be made in such a way that the LE will not recognise them as valid files. There is no easy solution to make them work with the SC4 LE application, the best workarounds would be either:

    • Download/Install SC4 PIM, if you are into making/editing lots, this is really a must have tool.
    • Edit the Hex entries of the Lot (LotConfigExemplar) to change the texture ID using Reader.

The first solution would be the simplest though.
