Well, Cori went off on a tangent commenting on @Fantozzi's useful information. (The link to an actual name for the ` symbol.) So, grave accent sent my mind whirling with:

Now true, hair accents are traditionally something physical one adds to their hair. However, we often refer to those more subtle partial highlights as accents. (Not the spoken kind, but to accentuate something.) Bringing me to visualizing a grave accent as a special way of decorating a tombstone.

And, ofc, taking this thread thoroughly off topic, but in my defense it was kind of finished already.

Well done @CorinaMarie - you opened a second page on a thread named <default pause> with a picture of a graveyard. Hopefully no one arrives directly here missing the posts on the first page - as you created a completely new association for the title - and one could think we're talking about the death here taking their 'default pause'.
