It was mentioned that this can be done with modtools. How exactly?

If you make a custom Match Day stadium, how do you tell the fans where to sit? *

    Any ideas, anyone?

Today I found the stadium in modtools and dumped it to investigate further. I'm impressed that they actually represented every seat (single sided alpha maps)! They also cheated on the lighting -- the field is illumination mapped. The ingame floodlights are too weak and too difficult to point to light a stadium properly. It's such a nifty building... would be great to be able to mod it.

I don't see the seats on the diffuse texture. Are they part of a sub-building that includes the field? Can I dump the sub-building?

Could be a subbuilding or a submesh, scroll down to m_subMeshes m_subBuildings and see what's in there.

I guess you can try to copy the m_buildingAI from this to your stadium, but I'm not sure how it works.

Is it possible to load the match day stadium as a template in the asset editor?

    Pnzffnt.jpg

^^ The "Football Stadium Field" (sub-building or sub-mesh, I don't know how to tell the difference) with its seats plopped separately

I'd really like some help with this. My stadium is almost ready to publish!

The seats aren't in the Field model .obj, so they must be scripted. This is actually encouraging... what if we could script our own seating locations? *:golly:

Here's my stadium with a scaled up match-day field. At minimum, I'm stealing those nets! :P

I'm still in the midst of making mine - got to texture, but I think my concept is working. You'll have to wait for me to finish so i can test everything out and get back to you. so far I've had no luck saving my mesh for the seats so I'm just using the default ones

You can't use the vanilla field dump files to reimport into the editor as they contain the animated soccer figures, which aren't supported in the asset editor (custom animations are not supported) therefore the files don't read and you don't get the textures showing up. Best to just make your own textures and mesh

If you just want the model of the football field (field, grass texture, goals), you can get that part. But not the animations. That's what I did for the field for my Jahn Sportpark model. I futzed around with it some to improve the normal mapping (the match day field copies the same normal map for two different sides of the field by mirroring it, which makes it look terrible as the sun move across it...so I fixed that.) Here are my modded .obj files (main and LOD) and texture files:

Ok but beware, I made it bigger. You can either downscale mine back to whatever size you want, or re-extract the one from match-day.

It's just the free match day stadium, not the paid DLC content. I really don't think CO would have an issue with us trying to mod it. I just wish they would teach us how to mod the seats positions and get the animations!

Still copyrighted content and you actually have to buy the base game to access these files. Publishing them here allows anyone, even people who did not buy the game, to download the files.

I've removed the link. Boformer is right, those files are copyrighted and shouldn't be shared like this. While there seems to be no problem extracting and editing the models and then sharing them on Steam, that doesn't make them available to people without the game. Prob best to go through the extraction process instead. :)

@Bad Peanut I saw you managed to get it working. I got all the stadium actually built around the Matchday stadium seats, but I can still manage to make that UI Pop up instead of the normal one. Could you share how you did it please? I tried about everything but nothing works.

it was really finicky and kind of just a bit of luck, play around with modtools

@Bad Peanut Thanks for replying :) @AmiPolizeiFunk also helped me by sharing some of his stuff.

I managed to get here thanks to your projects. But I guess I should let that UI pop up instead of the normal one from the unique building basically.1.thumb.png.49d66e5a777621cbf474f8da11b88f07.png2.thumb.png.b4604858a40920a75affda980a3313a8.png

I am a big Football fan, so I would love to have the possibility to make some nice stadiums with the Match Day function. I feel I am kind of close to get it right tho.

THINK that if you use the imported building it should work shouldn't it? and if you're suing my assets as templates they should all have the right values. if not I'm sure you'll get it soon! Looking forward to it! (also you can control the capacity of the stadium by altering all visitor AND workers values to be higher than normal, they'll add together to make the capacity)

I know this thread has been dormant for a while, but I've been scouring the internet for resources on the almost-infamous "stadium problem" and come up with nothing.

It seems the problem is that the Match Day mechanics revolve around an animation that doesn't import into new assets in the editor? Has anyone attempted to use the CAL mod to make it work? Or does that make it so the match day events no longer happen? From what I've seen of working Match Day workshop assets, the players aren't on the pitch, but the attendees are in their respective seats, and I'd even be fine with that.

Ideally, I'd like to make a Match Day complex that's close-ish to 1:1 scale (the pitch alone would be at least 64m by 96m [8u by 12u]) and modular. I don't expect to get Match Day mechanics working for more than just the football pitch, and doing so would probably would nearly break the game (akin to what @Turjan said here.) I'm just not satisfied with the vanilla stadium and its size, and all the working ones on the workshop are to that same scale.
