Hi Yall ,Thx for dropping in and welcome to the city. The Mayor of Dallas has supplied all simtropolis

members with a 7 Days travel pass enabaling free passage throughout the region ,also the pass

allows upto 7 night free accomadation in any of the regions 5 star luxury hotels.LOL

This cj is being documented using :

a, A Default Version of SC4 Rush Hour/ No mods ,bats ,lots ,nam etc (This changes later on , for the better i might add)

b, At a Hard Setting

c, No Loan Spamming

d, No Fast forwarding many years in main city.

e, Regional growth,City to grow with regional time line.

f, No Cheats

g, No R$,CS$ spamming

h, Default config New York Region

i, Tax rates to be 8.5% min

Also

a,The region isnt real and isnt meant to resemble reality

b,Transport Networks are direct and designed for bulk usage .

c,I could just put a few tiles of water with the mayor in game

terrian editor to supply water, but ive left the inlet, lakes to please the sims .

The Objective : Dallas to have ,+ 3 Million Residential Population

Can it be done .... err ?? Not sure sometimes i feel the orig sim city for Win95 had

more build power, just the graphics got better in SC4,but to me sim city is about #.And quality

of life .

If anyone got a default city at over 3 million then plse post me a pic here ,thx

After this : Then i will be d/l ing all those Bats and stuff ,you guys have been kind enough to

share with us all ,as a ***** to simtropolis ,but a veteran of sim city i find this

site awesome .In 3 years of playing SC4 i have been unable to beat the game into

submission ,got real close with a 2.4 million city ,but the transport network couldnt

cope so i scrapped the Region and Decided to build for 3 million instead .

I hope to update this cj at least once a week,do regional tours, and discuss statistics.

So here it is ,

Located centraly in the vast flatlands of a fertile Valley ,Dallas enjoys the potential

rewards from 10 direct neighbour connections, and is ideal location for a huge wealthy commuter

/Commercial office city .

The first overviews show Dallas ,s favourable position in the New York Region.

At this stage Dallas is no more than a small town, flourishing from the demands for labour

driven by its neighbour city ....

Within 3 Years the Dallas skyline begins to see some dramitic changes larger residential building

begin to develop.........................

Looks interesting. Can't wait to see how you get to the Dallas skyline... that should be interesting also. Good start and welcome to SimTropolis if nobody has already... I bet it is going to be hard building Dallas without BATs, but we will see.

Oh, and do people up in Dallas really say Hi Ya'll? Because no one says that in Houston anymore. (Not being rude, just asking a serious question).

Playing without the NAM should be a challenge.  But I also agree that you might want a water mod - and I don't see what is wrong with BATs; they just'll add some variety and diversity to your city's buildings.

I suggest you convert the pictures in future updates to JPG; it'll make things quicker for people with dial up, such as myself.  It took around 10 minutes to load this page up.  If it took any longer, I might not have commented.  Just my two cents, though.

    Hi,
Thx for your interest in the city ,i to look forward to viewing the finished skyline of Dallas, and
its neighbours ,although i think ,this may be many sim years away ,if at all the city is ever finished
once its peaked at default ,then i will use the mods to see wut happens,so this project may take some
    time to complete...
LOL ,:Y all , hehe ,dunno being from the UK im not sure why you folks use the term Y,all, all the time.
    Only that a good clan buddy of mine from Texas says Y,all every other word on ts ..i l ask him;

With it being the Holidays i spend quite alot of time working on the region .100,000 ,s of Industrial
jobs have been created throughout the region, this has seen the development of other cities which has
pushed New Yorks Pop to over 2 million.
The Regions Capital ,even tho it still basicaly covers the same land area has seen its population
explode as sims flock to within commuting distance of New Commercial/Banking jobs created in
    other nearby cities.
Dallas planners have carefully spent the limited budgets on transport links ,hopefully designed to
meet the needs of a ever growing population.
Over the Next Decade the city plans to invest heavily ,in residential development ,and transport .

    rather than re development .

i would suggest surrounding the high density with some lower density. the high density just looks odd all by itself. also, get the reunion tower of the stex. you need the dandelion to make the dallas skyline. thats all, as i really don't know that much about the real city. except that my favorite radio show is recorded there. oh also, the original simcity was for dos. that was the first one i ever played. simcity on my tandy 1000 that my dad gave me. it was fun...

Hi Sloppet,All ,Thx for taking the time to pass comment ,not that
i made the cj to get nice comments ,more as a place to keep a
journal of my city & region, although i must admit, although very unfinished
and very default ,it isnt bad. Was thinking about some ,park ,tree s,
embankment ,retaining wall bats, but as i have not reached my desired
population count then im not to worried about the fine tuning ,
    just yet.
Since Dallas update ive moved away from Dallas to work on increasing
regional population ,and im at least 10 cities away from Dallas
so it could take me a week to get back to Dallas city.
One thing worth reporting is New Haven population is now in excess of
    5 million sims
Here s a shot of the region how it looks to date.

    Commercial Pop 1819736
    Industrial Pop 563399

Oh btw since jioning simtropolis,im a reborn SC4 player, this cj
has cost me 210 places on the AoE3 xP ladders, and 44 on the CossacksII
ladder ,and it looks like il never get general on A+A now aswell..46.gif

Yo ,Hey glad you called back in again Cjah ,Glad you liked the region ,took me a
hole afternoon to add the boarder trying to feather in the ridges even with
reconcile was a nightmare ,but im reasonably happy with it now ,and cant wait
to build there ,lol knowing me tho i prolly spend millions leveling it.
Just a quick update on progress so far,The region is now in exess of 7 million
and growing fast .Dallas now has a population over 1.6 million.
Sorry for all the text but, when i started my cj ,i was new to simtrop at the time
i considered any bats ,ect to be cheating, but since spending more time here, and
searching the bat files ect ,i was very suprised to learn that most of the Bats
actualy held less workers than the Biggest default buildings sooo i downloaded
my self a lot of growable comms towers ,parks,Embankments, plaza s ect,ect ect,.
Well for now ,i just wanted to thank all the Bat,ers for the great stuff they
have made available to all ,the standard of work is outstanding..

That is one big city. Why make a challenge of 3 million people when to reach it the solution is to just add more cities? Would it not be more of a challenge to have the highest quantity of sims in one city?  Keep up the good work as it looks like a lot of fun to make a big city.

    -Dan

Hey All , I havent played my Dallas city tile so i cant update on Dallas .
Mayormommy ,the traffic in town isnt bad at all,90%+ of the sims use public
transport, and there s not one toll booth in the hole of the region.Problems may
arise tho as the population grows.
mtbrocket ,i set myself a target of 3 mill in one city square, because i wasnt sure
if it was possible to achieve in default(without cheats ,mods ect),if the city does
reach 3 mill ,i will continue to add asmany sims as possible to that tile,Keep hoping
one off the Byall Towers is gonna turn into an arcology then a rocket and take off..

Here s a picture of a bridge i been working on ,its nearly finished.

Hi and welcome to this update..
Just a quick reply first . Hey Micah nice to see you here again aswell, thought
you d abondoned me ,lol , Glad your enjoying the cj and like Dallas ,Although it
doesnt look anything like the real Dallas ,it is growing realy well .I never intended
to replicate the real city ,that would be impossible to achieve,i choose the name simply because
    i liked it .
Yes i am improving ,and thats thanks to simtropolis ,i could always build a huge cities,
but simtropolis has helped me refine my game to the final level .Maybe as time goes by
i may look at ways to improve the presentation of this cj,but im way to busy working on
regional development just now ,so this cj remains based soley around game play for now.

The New Haven administration has been working constantly (in free time ) on the development
of New Haven several Massive building projects have been started and others remain in the pipeline
,but with 100,000 simols start they could take some time to complete, approx 60 years gameplay.

One project is completed to a stage that is presentable and i got some pics here now.

very impressive.  this is more of an experimental CJ with all the restrictions and goals you gave yourself.  it will make for a great tutorial CJ for those who want to see how to develop viable large cities.

you have done a great job so far with terraforming the region.  it should look fantastic when it is all finished.

    good luck.

oh, btw, I enjoyed the helicopter tour, especially the part when you almost ran into the planes. lol!
