I just spent the past hour or so reading thru these first four pages and I'm definately impressed with your region. I've been trying to create a regional metropolis like this since I bought the game nearly 2 years ago. I will be checking in to see how much higher you can push the population.

jacqulina : Hi Jacky thanks for visiting us again , your words of encouragement

kinda keeps me going  ty ,,obtw that was mt first attempt at mosaics hopefully i will

               get better.

blade2k5 : Hey , First of all congrats on the great maps ,you put on the stex,in a perfect

world id have the time to build on them all .Right from the beginning uh ?Well

i was very noobish back then ,and im not quite as noobish now ,Glad you like

the metropolis,i dont want to teach anyone to suck eggs but if you need advise

about building realy big , give me a shout. But then you would have no time for the

maps you release so maybe not a good idea.

rooker1 : Hey thanx for your continued support. After New Ark i dont intend building any more big cities

so i guess , you will be stuck with the farms ,lol.

    Hey Guys ,

Just a text update on population count. Ive tryed this before

and woke up to completely abondoned cities , well virtually.. New Ark is taking

hours upon hours ,weeks  to grow so last night as i had resi demand i placed

extra water pumps ect ect and left the city running on slow , while i went to bed

got in trouble for it this morning ,mind you,  but the city grew over 250,000

in 7 hours. Still half asleep i managed sucsessfully to hit save and exit to region.

Later when i restarted the city ,i had 128 abandoned mostly r$ tower blocks,

but the city had still grown over all .Clearing abondoned buildings is now the cities

largest expense at 760 a shot it realy mounts up. I will satisfy the resi demand

from the neighbour cities, once i am sure that no New Ark residents can reach the jobs

.I have a very strict system for playing all the cities and it seems to work, the good

news is plenty demand is still getting through to New Ark, just the residents cant reach

the jobs.Growing this city seems to be a cycle of growth - Abondonment-Demolish ,from which

the city seems to grow ,so for maybe every 200,000 sims that arrive,120,000 cant find work

and leave , and this is what im up against. Many road connections are giving 65535 query,

so thats not good but this city has around 140 highway connections,200+ Subway connections

and others .So a conclusion i kinda made is the size of a city realy depends on its transport

network, and how you manage the traffic.I kinda believe i am real close to the balance between

zones and transport with this city .New Arks transport network is far superior to the one at Dallas

and this is the only reason its grown bigger, also ive kept r$$$ out of New Ark,which has made

life a little easier, but caused problems aswell, ive made one mistake with Co$$$ in New Ark

but theres to many dependant on it now to demolish it .Also I can prolly get one or two return

visits to the city before im gonna need to drop back into the region, satiify the resi demand close by

then create a fresh pile of Co demand ,satisfy the resi demand that creates then continue work on New Ark.

creating a whole new bunch of Co jobs on the New Ark neighbour border ,in the hope that a good % of

new residents in New Ark will find the jobs, im gonna add at least a million sims to the region

before my next push on New Ark ,i prolly got 2 more cycles like that left in the city then im

hopefully gonna finish it off by adding Co$$ jobs in the spaces the abandoned buildings leave.

Hope thats not to boring ,but i just wanted to give you a little insight  into managing the

    city and its growth .

5.6 million and still growing......impressive.  It takes me 3 large tiles to achieve a population of 5.6 mil.  That could be because I rarely use rail except for industrial purposes namely because I forget about it.....thanks for reminding me to use it for MT to2.gif

....left the city running on slow , while i went to bed got in trouble for it this morning.....quote>

I for one, don't let the game sim while I'm sleeping....did that once or twice and woke up the next morning to find that my ancient pc had locked up and had to start over from the point I'd started at.....again.  Frustrating it is......

I do have a question for you though.....in your Oct. 7 update, the first image depicts these extremely tall skyrises....I need to know where I can get/find the black skyscraper featured in the center and the 'arrow shaped' silver  skyscraper  near the left edge of the image....I searched and found the others and have installed them, but can't find the two I mentioned.

blade2k5 : Hey, First of all congrats on the great maps you put on the stex, in a perfect  world i'd have the time to build on them all.  Right from the beginning uh?  Well i was very noobish back then, and im not quite as noobish now, Glad you like  the metropolis, i dont want to teach anyone to suck eggs but if you need advise about building realy big, give me a shout.  But then you would have no time for the maps you release so maybe not a good idea.quote>

I will take you up on your offer, once I settle on a map to develop [i have too many to choose from....46.gifcan't make up my mind], and will get back to you on that.  Thanks for the offer.

I really like what you're doing with this region, it has the look I want for my region and I look  forward to the next update.

I started this city some time ago ,but never got round to finishing it,Well ive been

back there armed with some cool bats , and tryed to create a dirty industrial port.

    Take a look .

    OverView of Port Norwood.

    pl1fs0.jpg

Most of the port and dwellings were built and owned by the Haven ship building

Co in the early 1900,s.In 1965 the regions first off shore gas rig was built. This

supply of natural resources helped the development of the area.

    pl2ik0.jpg

A view of the New main cargo transfer facilty added in 1985

    pl3sr0.jpg

Although now none operational the old ship building yards and Dockers homes

    still remain

    pl4bp2.jpg

The port now handles over 40,000 tonnes of cargo a day and employs 25,000 workers

    pl6vw5.jpg

Many of the old industries still operate to this presant day

    pl7rp1.jpg

A 1970,s oil refinary, although not an oil producing Region New Haven has several

    large petroleum refineries.

    pl8tb9.jpg

Still a World leader in ship building

    pl9il6.jpg

Recent additions of New Docks and facilities have given the port International

    status .

    pl10wj9.jpg

Thats all i got , till next time.

And thanx to all the Baters for Sharing -).

     Replies :

Jacquilina - Hey ,so pleased you like the update , and yes it did take

and a lot of bulldozing. And thx for the vote of confiedence -)

Wow! I've never seen that many cars bunched up like that in game....are those 3 one-way roads side by side? Amazing.....And pushing 6 mil for New Ark...I also like the trees alonside the blvd.

And then there's the port.....Oh my goodness does that look like a real port, reminds me a lot of the port in Los Angeles. You gotta PM me the links for those industrial BAT's, I could use those for my up-coming new region I'm starting to develop.

Excellent job on that port city Gridlock, look forward to your next update.

Hi Jacquilina  : Thx for your continued support, without you the cj would of prolly been

                     shelved by now .

Hey Jersey_    : Thx for dropping in , lol your post was funny

and very inspiring,i had been lacking motivation this

last week or so, but your post seems to have cured it ..ty-)

Hi zfenton75   : Thx for the visit, yeah its one of the biggest grown cities

ive seen aswell,i only added the large bats right at the end

of the build as a bit of candy. My largest city at the mo is around

5.8 mill again grown under strict rules, the city realy started as an experiment

but i was advised to move it to cj section.6 Million ,i am at present

working on increasing Co demand , to make it worth while playing the city

again, some of the roads are at maximun capacity , but with a bit of luck

it should go beyond 6 million.Region transport map,the full size map

is 6460x3180 and ive downsized to 800x600 for simtrop ,so i am afraid

the quality is real poor , but ive done the pic as you asked -).

A poor quality image of the full regional transport map

    newhaventnspt1rg6.jpg

And a slighty better image of a lot of the regional transport map.

    newhaventnspt2xp4.jpg

Hope to have another project finished sometime soon .

but that was a taste of things to come..
