Well if you would like to suggest some ways that the US could reduce emissions AND keep millions of people from going on the dole, you're more than welcome to post them. 2.gif

That's right, global warming isn't the US' fault (only a small part), but the Americans (canadians included - sorry Vid) consume about twice as more oil/capita as the German, or the French (who have 54 nuclear reactors - a world record. It allows us to reduce our oil consumption, but nuclear waste also pollute, in its own way.) do.
There are too many oil-thirsty cars in these 2 countries...

1-Dont buy pointlessly big cars. They are unnessery. The top 5 selling autos in the US are SUV's and Pick-ups. What a waste.

2-Dont buy pointlessly big tellys. 26-32 is ample.

3-You dont need a massive house. Just buy what you need.

4-SIgn up to the co2 emissions agreement. Everyone else has, and everyone else is reducing year on year. The UK has cut its emissions by 8% since 1995, and plan to cut it by 20% by 2012. If we can do it, why cant you?

    1.  So what do I do when I need to take something large somewhere?  Like if I need to take my lawn mower over to my grandparents house to cut their lawn?  (Not that I do that, but my dad has done that)

    2.  Having a big screen TV is awesome!  You can't have a Super Bowl party around a 20 TV.

    3.  We have a lot of junk in our house.

    4. Um.. Is that the Tokyo thing?  If it is, it is pointless.  The Tokyo thing doesn't cut emissions, it just makes the US give money to developing countries for the credits.

    5.  (You didn't have a 5 but I'm adding one5.gif)  I'm cold!

move to another country where it is warmer, and as for the superbowl, go and watch it on a big screen in a public place, at major sports events they have a fantastic atmosphere and can turn into one big party39.gif

If I move to another country, I won't be able to go to Oriole and Raven games as often as I do now.  Plus America pwns all others2.gif.  I don't want to go to a public place to watch a big screen because they are often crowded and smoke filled.  I'd rather watch it on my own big screen in my own giant house with the heat turned up and have just my friends each drive over in their pick up trucks and SUVs.

cut oil usage! stop pollution! no more gas-guzzlers!...
not that these ideas aren't good and dont deserve our attention, its just that none of these, not even combined, can stop the global warming issue. lets just say, for the sake of argument, that through some impossible effort, CO2 production was sliced in half. GREAT! but the destruction of the ozone layer (vital to the entire problem) is far beyond repair. there would still be an extreme amount of carbon dioxide up there slowely rotting away the atmosphere. the CO2 thats left simply wont float out into space, and there would still be the remaining half pouring in!
sorry, but i see global warming as irreversable, so i wouldnt try to blame it on anyone for that matter.

    one thing i forgot...
has anyone heard anything about Geosequestration???
i recently did a report on it and found it really interesting. basically its purpose is to somehow collect large amounts of CO2 before it enters the atmosphere, convert it onto liquid form and store it deep in underground voids (drained oil reserves) and keeping it there. WHAT A CONCEPT!!! ide shake the hand of the person who thought of that one! and the cool thing is that they have already started to do it!
feel free to ask questions cuz i love this stuff!

Wouldnt it turn back into gas?  Don't you have to keep it really cold to keep it liquid?

Please tell me you don't believe this crap.

The climate cycle of the Earth is such a long process that if scientists believe they can understand it in the relitively short time that humans have existed, they over-estimate their knowledge.

True, I will concede the point that air pollution is bad for the atmosphere, and I will admit that the world is getting warmer. I will not (and cannot), say with certinty that the former is the cause of the latter.

Oh, and those of you who say it's a major, major problem, what do you want us to do? Stop driving? Ditch electricity? Take civiliztion back to the stone age? Or were you just looking for something to $%&^! about?

Seriously people, this kind of stuff happens, has happened, and will continue to happen. If it were to stop, then the climates of the world would be completely shot to hell.

It's called a cycle for a reason, peeps.

You have to have at least 2 bathrooms.  What do you do if someone has to go while someone else is in the shower and you really can't wait?  It sucks.  I had to do that when I was staying at my grandparents house for a while.  I would get up in the morning to go to the bathroom, and someone would be in the shower and I would have to go so bad I felt like I was going to die.  No way I could live always with just 1 bathroom.20.gif

Erm...ya, I've never seen a house with only 1 bathroom. Think of how much time it would waste in the morning! Everyone needs to take a shower, brush their teeth, etc, it would take over an hour with a single restroom. It also makes it much easier for parents and kids to handle different schedules, or when there's both sisters and brothers (my friend's sister and her mom both use one restroom, while he, his brother and dad use the other).

Anyways, what do bathrooms have to do with global climate? 18.gif

A slight weather change is nothing to be alarmed about.
    quote>
Say rainfall drops by just 1% across India and East Asia. That's less than a tenth of a milliliter per inch of rainfall annually. Seem small? When you consider the fact that it's reducing the freshwater and agricultural supply for three billion people, however, that 1% is equivilant to a food shortage for three hundred million people, more than the entire population of the United States! Slight isn't so slight when you're dealing with billions of people. This doesn't even take into account the increasing overpopulation in the area, nor the lack of technology to cope with the change.

You need the 50 TV to boast about it, so that the other parts about your life that completely blow chunks are overlooked by other, and you fell better. The big cars compensate for small penises, Americans don't like Pubs because they use them to kill eachother, and they need big houses to fit all the junk they buy but don't need, so they can brag about it. It's all about bragging rights. Sad, really3.gif

Well, at least we are trying to change.
