Alpine Valley - Majestic mountains and lush valleys

Alpine Valley was formed as the waters receded and left a deep bed of sediment amid tall mountains and lakes. The area remained unchanged for hundreds of thousands of years until early tribes of nomadic Indians settled here about a thousand years ago. They were mainly hunters and fishermen, living off the regions abundant animal and plant life.

European settlers began to filter into the valley in the late 1700

Today the valley is a major agricultural area, producing everything from nuts to grapes. It's excellent highway system enables farmers to ship to all points; domestic as well as foreign.

Numerous small cities and towns dot the main valley. These communities also produce a surprising array of manufactured goods.

Two interstate highways, rail lines, air service and ocean shipping give the region the ability to move goods and people almost anywhere.

It should be interesting to see what happens in this region.
But what are those yellow patches, and can we have a close up?

Those yellow patches are farms aren't they?

Anyway this looks really realistic. I look forward to seeing more closeup pictures of the region. Nice terraforming by the way.

Very nice terraforming. This is a picture of a region I did some hand terraforming in. I was going for very large steep mountains. --Canadian Rockies-- I know what you had to go threw to get your results.

Yes, getting the transition between regions is tedious. You did a good job on yours.

    Thanks

It all started here in these mountains with the early trappers, then gold seekers. The first major strike was here at the Victory Mine. Today it is the largest single source of gold in the nation. The complex mines, separates and forges the gold for shipment to the federal repository.

WOW... Beautiful region, rewright!  I love the mountains, love the farmland below, even love the mine.  I can't wait to see where this one is going.

The only way up to the Victory mine is by rail, which winds it's way up the side of Hogback Mountain, and then passes through it by way of 3 Mile Tunnel. The route is trecherous, including Lonely Gorge. Some pictures of the north face of the climb.

    > I'm not sure how I got it to cross that gorge with no water in it. But thanks, the terraforming took a while.

Just south of the city is the port of Lakeside, which connects the Valley to all major ports. Currently it's docks can handle two large ships at the same time. Plans for another terminal are being drawn up, and will be presented to county council next month.

At 40,000 plus, Lexington is the valley's largest community, containing about 50% of the population, and it's civic, industrial, retail and commercial center.

It's location at the crossroads of two interstate highways has greatly increased it's appeal as a site for business expansions.
