I did a search for Show us your, farm, and rural but did not see a topic like this.  Also, I just really wanted to get in on the whole Show us your craze before all the good topics were taken.

These shots are all from my new and first CJ, Newtopia Valley , please check it out:

    I hate to bump my own topic ( thus double posting) but someone out there must have screen shots of farmland.  I dont care if its basic, realistic, funny, wierd.  post anything.

    I have always seen these show us your topics as the epitome of the city building concepts thread.  what better way for other people to see how to develop cities than to look at pics posted by others.  I have gotten tons of ideas and inspirations from topics like this.  I just wanted to post something new and maybe help some one out there that was having trouble making realistic farming communities.

    Its not like I am asking for something that is rare or never used am I?  IA is one of the fundamental building blocks of a successful SimCity4 region!  I know lots of you with CJs out there have tons of farm shots.

    Heck it does not even have to be farm land, just some rural city out in the middle of nowhere will work.

    plus you can use this post to advertise your own city jounal!  I am doing it for mine,  Newtopia Valley.   see how easy that was!

    Wow. Looks fairly realistic, soldyne.

    I may as well post some old farmland I made a while ago... a pitty I don't have a computer able to play SC4 on anymore, but hopefully I'll be able to get a new system sometime soon.

    A transport view of a farming region :
    map7lo.jpg'

    A satellite view of the same region :
    viewsat0qv.jpg'

    A country-club amist farmscape :
    28va.jpg'

    An overview, though it's crappy because I never got to finishing it before I lost the region :
    49nw.jpg

    Hope these photos convince some other people to post their own farmscapes !

    I don't really like to develop farms because I think it's a waste of land and low income ($$), but these ones are fairly impresive. I hope to see more.

    wow, nooneatall, that region view is spectacular.  thats the kind of region scene I am trying to accomplish in my CJ.

    metasmurf, your pic is amazing, no, breathtaking!  the use of different kinds of trees is what my areas are lacking.  I will try to incorporate that in my future designs.

    sendarrow, I would agree that farms are low income and take a lot of space.  but, when building with region play in mind farms can add a lot to a prosperous and growing region.  That is one of the things that makes SC4 so great;  there is a plethora of possibilities which anyone can make a goal out of.  So long as you are enterained then the purpose has been served!

    Thanks for posting everyone.  when I get more farmland in my CJ going I will have more pics to post.

    Great pictures everyone, I love farmland. Its a great way to get cities started and looks very realistic on the edges of larger cities.

    Here are three images from my latest region, Raven, which I have been working on for the last six months:

    First is an image from a small corner of the region:

    farms_region.jpg

    The second is a city wide view of the town of Nightfall which is on the left side of the region clip, about two thirds of the way down:

    farms_nightfall_1.jpg

    The last image is a more detailed view of part of Nightfall. It shows mainly lots by CSX, Simgoober, BLS, Pegasus, and one or two of mine.

    Excellent work everybody.  I think it is harder to make a farming region look realistic than a big city but easier to maintain once it's built.  Keep up the good work. 10.gif

    Ahhh, finally a Show Us Your topic I can sink my teeth into.  What I did was go back and pull some random pics from my CJ, LaPlaisance County.  They are in a reverse type order, with the top pic being newer than the bottom.  Some are nice shots of farmland while others inlcude farm land mixed with some low density residential.  Enjoy !

    Some nice farming lands are shown above and some are even impressive to look at. I personally don't use any other farms than the originals and my own, since most of them from the STEX are a little to artificial looking and too colourful (of course I don't want to offense anyone please). The original ones are just perfect looking, but unfortunately not enough diverse.
    Since my computer caught a virus and destroyed a lot of my simcity stuff, I started with a couple of new regions and the first picture shows a part of one of these. This one will be represented in the multiplayer CJ Istrinia (Norland) very soon.
    The other two pictures of my agricultural region are from my older CJ Nexis of Genesis, which I am not sure, if I will be able to continue to play with. It is severly damaged by the virus.

    I personally, and in real life, live in a big agricultural region in Quebec/Canada, not far from New England of the United States, and I just love building giant farming communities with this game, including a small village and a town. It is part of reality where I live.
    So, here is my part of the rural concepts of Simcity.

    Nice farmland, everyone!

    soldyne: I like how you've put in access roads to your farms.
        BTW, I also like that backgeround you are using... the clouds add a nice touch

    dhoppeii: LaPlaisance County looks very nice. Very colourful, and I like how you've handled the elevation changes.

    Well, I've just begun a new CJ with a region featuring plenty of farmland, so here's a few random pictures:

    <ahttp://img435.imageshack.us/img435/3237/brmfarmpic18od.jpg align=baseline>
    Most of the agricultural areas in the southern part of the region are quite orderly, having been established on well surveyed land.
    The north eastern portion of the region was established later, and although still very orderly, the survey teams clearly took a different compass bearing, as can be seen in the following two pictures:
    <ahttp://img447.imageshack.us/img447/9821/brmfarmpic23yy.jpg align=baseline>

    <ahttp://img447.imageshack.us/img447/6769/wadesborodetail2us.jpg align=baseline>

    A thin strip of fertile soil running along the Stadtlander River in the west established itself quite early on, before propper surveing had been done. In this last picture, you can see the effect... farms have taken on a much more random shape, conforming to the natural features much more:

    <ahttp://img425.imageshack.us/img425/2376/brmfarmpic35lq.jpg align=baseline>

    [shamelessselfpromotionON]
    You can see more pictures of this region in my new CJ 'the BeRM... an exersize in urban encroachment' here:
    [shamlessselfpromotionOFF]

    Thanks for letting me share, and keep up the good work!

    quote>

    Thanks 1.gif. The water mod is Pegasus' Crystal Lagoon Water Mod . I also use a variation of Gizmo's Water Flora Mod with reduced transparency so that the whales and other underwater features are more visible with Peg's mod in place.

    The rock mod is the Grey Rock option from Pegasus' Rock Mod I

    The terrain mod is Cycledogg's Columbus Terrain Mod with the various Tree Controllers and Lower Snow Cap Mods

    dhoppeii: I like how you have made the roads to the farm buildings, this would probably be very helpful in reducing traffic which is a big killer of farms.

    mrbisonm: Having your farm buildings close together like that is very effective and realistic.

    psteverific: nice use of diagonal roads and streets.

    soldyne:thanks for creating this topic 44.gif

    Very nice soldyne. The layout of the farms looks particularly effective in region view.

    I borrowed your idea for the roads within the farm for my latest city. Unfortunately my computer died a few days ago, and so I don't have any more pictures, at least until it can be repaired. With any luck it will only be the power source and the hard disk may still be ok.

    Its a shame this thread isn't as popular as some of the other show us your ... threads. There are some great farmland creators around.

    first I want to say that I like the farms on the the different elevations.  very unique.  and farming on cliffs has got to be dangerous (although it does look cool).  I would be wary of living in a city with signs that say Beware of falling Farm Equipment

    I think the custom farms are bit bright (i dont use them myself) but I have seen many examples where they look good especially those being posted in this thread.  I say, if you like how it looks then keep it.

    Gotta love the backblocks - all that peace and quiet! 48.gif
    I go for the more wild type of terrain, so my rural areas tend to be filled with hardier sorts who aren't afraid of a bit of wind and rain.
