After a long break from BAT and SC4, I have found some time to complete Gare du Nord de Paris. I will release a beta version very soon (maybe even today).

Please check the documentations included, for dependencies etc.

The station has been in the hands of the BSC team for some time now. However, BSC is working on many other great projects right now. So, I have decided to do the LOT-design, TE, modding etc myself. Normally, I would have waited a bit longer for the BSC team to review and test my work. However, my enthousiasm for SC4 and BAT is a bit unpredictable. Therefore, I have decided to post the beta version, now.

I must say that I greatly appreciate the input and assistance from the BSC team. They spend many hours on a previous version of this station which I eventually decided not to release, because the model I made was not to my satisfaction. I hope they will be able to assist me if this beta version  will cause major problems, conflicts etc.

Further credits go to Porkie, who created the BAT-models for the statues. Don't they look great!?!

In conclusion: I didn't have the time to extensively test the station, but it works fine on my computer. I have no idea if my modding will cause conflicts with other lots and BATs. Please use this thread to report problems, if any. I'll try to do my best to correct them. (If the problems relate to my modding, please also provide solutions if you can) Here are some screenshots.

Enjoy and happy holidays.

Oh yes, I have encountered one problem myself (not specifically related to this BAT). I had plans to put more props on this LOT (I wanted some more people  waiting on the tracks) However, recently the LOT-editor has been giving me major problems. When I edit he lot with the lot-editor, e.g. add props, and next save the LOT (even using save as), it doesn't store my changes. Very frustrating.

Does anyone know how to solve this? Is there a max. number of props that can be added to a lot?

    Can't.... breath... it's... too.... awesome...

P.S.: I have also encountered that problem with the LE. I found out, that after saving one time, the LE won't always save following times you click save (don't know why). So after clicking save you should - for 100% savety - close and start the LE again.
Maybe a bit (no, it's actually very) fiddly, but for that building I think it would it be worth.

    Thanks people.

Some additional information about known graphical issues. Because the BAt models files are huge, rendering has been an enormous problem. Eventually. i have decided to split up the model in two parts. As a results, there are some graphical issues mainly in the night view. But I consider them minor. Anyway they cannot be solved, because I have no intention to re-render this once again (headache)

Dr. Frickenstein: Don't get me wrong, but this version is as complete as it can be. The only reason that I post this is a beta, is because there is a small chance may be conflicts. But on my computer it works great. So a 'completed' version will not differ that much from this one. Moreover, I don't want to raise expectations as to how much time I will spend on this in the future.

One other known issue that I happen to think of right now: I created my won nightlights (including the models and textures). For the big white lightcones at the front of the station I had to place to model off-centre in BAT, because the lamp-posts are positioned outside the LOT-border. In the front view the lightcones are correctly placed with respect to the lamp-post. However, in the side views they shift. I decide not to try to solve this problem anymore, because it only results in a small graphical problem. However, I would appreciate it if an experienced modders could have a look at it and maybe solve to problem.

Yeah, there is a limit to the amount of objects you can put on a lot. I believe it's 255 (not including the building, which has to be there). That limit includes all objects: props, TE tiles, textures, flora, water/land.

What I would recommend is to delete the base textures from the parts of the lot that are covered by the BAT model. It looks like you've got a ton of base textures under there that you never see in the game. Unfortunately, LE won't let you save lots without base textures... So you'd have to find a clever way around that.

On the LE problem (sorry if I'm pointing out the obvious) - When you save, it always creates a duplicate file in the My Documents/Sim City 4/Plugins folder. If you selected save as the duplicate has whatever name you give it. If you just select save the duplicate has the same name as the original and you need to copy the duplicate into the same folder as the original and overwrite it.

Hope that helps. These pics look extraordinary!

Glad to see you found the motivation to complete this masterpiece.  What separates your creations from 95% of the others that are released, are the incredibly realistic textures that accompany your brilliant minute details.  I spend so much time looking at every facet of your buildings just admiring the subtle things that make your creations come alive...

    Magnificent job.

46.gif46.gif46.gif my eyes hurt.. after installing it i stared at it.. for several minutes.. maybe longer.. its the first time really that i have just stared at simcity. the details, the textures, the sheer size. it was only today that i was thinking that ill t and forgface's could be bettered with their awesome stations but by what. and as if by magic you read my thoughts and here it is. a masterpiece indeed. i know this has been in the pipeline for sometime without my knowing. im gald i didnt know of it. because the wait would have been unbearable. anyways - how long has this thing taken you (not actual time but production time if you get my saying) to go from modelling all the way to the end product here???

on a side note: the behemoth (sp) is working fine and their are no problems to report for me anyways. finally, i thought i would post my comments here as with the debate of the file size at the moment i didnt want my comments to go unheard. thankyou for this great station. and i was thinking of giving a train station ago. heh...... yeah right 28.gif18.gif

OWNED! I downloaded it. And it rocks! One question. I dont have any prop packs applied to it 'cept for SG Grocery pack. What is added if I put those packs in? 'cause without them the thing looks complete.

Hmmm, the model is absolutely brilliant, but after looking at a picture of the real article I noticed that the main and side windows appear to be perfect semicircles. In your BAT however, they look a little disproportioned. But who am I to nitpick. Great work 29.gif

    Horray! Xannepan's back!

That's a quite detailed train station, from the pics I've seen of it. You've done a great job of capturing its essence!

Omigosh, we all bow before the Master BATter!  We're not worthy, we're not worthy!

Oh, Omnipotent One, whose Light is the guiding Sun in our Hearts...

    Veryhttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//garebright.jpg align=baseline>

...uh, methinks the Divine lightcones have gone crazy.  Somehow, they have all shifted into great clumps along the sides, and remain in those locations regardless of zoom level, building orientation, or view rotation.  In closer zooms, tiny double lightcones apparently from the headlights of vehicles (there are no corresponding vehicles, just the loose lightcones) flash and flicker across the lot (they are going too fast, I cannot capture a screenshot of them).  It may just be my weak system or conflicts with some other plugin.  Does anyone else get this or can replicate it?

Then again, it is rather cool in a Hugh Ferriss sort of way (there may be something to overly glaring lights that some BATs can use).  Either way, this railway palace is going in all my cities.

BTW, for those who are not familiar with the renderings of Hugh Ferriss, he did a series of astounding building drawings in the 1920s and 1930s based on the maximum permissible volumes and setbacks of the New York's 1916 zoning laws.  The resulting skylines of dark skyscraper masses and foggy arc lamp lighting make for a cool gotham.

Yep, it is conflicting with The Great Chozo's older Highway Light Towers, which are also available on the Stex.

    Garehttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//garelotedit.jpg align=baseline>

Note the reference to the following squirrelly prop:
    0x4d48270c---LargeLightCone---StreetLight

That is indeed the large custom light cone from the Highway Light Towers

The correct reference for this prop in the station:
    0x4d48270c---JENXProps_Nightlight_YellowGlobe1---SteetLight

Looks like that one in a million chance...quick, buy yourself a lottery ticket!
The temporary solution is simply to remove The Great Chozo's Highway Light Towers if you have both and prefer the station.  I really love the light towers, though, so I might just bite the bullet and have some blind rail travellers for awhile.  Afterall, Paris is the City of Lights.

Thanks for the information, I'll download it.48.gif But IF there's a problem, I'll report it.
EDIT: A little question: What's the capacity? If it's 10.000,
I suggest you to change the capacity to 50.000 (Well, it's a HUGE station)
EDIT 2: AAARRGHH!!32.gif I can't find some dependencies for your lot! PLEASE give me the link for these following files, or the prop packs:
     - BSC_AmsterdamCentralStation_props.dat
     - PEG_CDKN_SubmarineBase_RESOURCE.dat
     - PEG_CopCar_WHT-Seal_205.dat
I've also noticed another a little problem: You didn't include the Auto-Install,
but it isn't a big problem.
So, PLEASE help me, because I want the station sooooooo badly!32.gif

    Hi Xannepan ,

Unbelievable work ... but you know it .

That's funny , I've just heard the french news (I am) and the SNCF (the french rail company) have announced her project to join Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon under Paris with a TGV station under the Republique plaza .... the only problem seems to be the cost ; about 1.500.000.000

@all: I sent xannepan an updated lot file with some adjusted stats, since the current ones are too low for a station of this size. It looks like the lightcones need another ID, since it conflicts with the highway lights. Remeber, this is a beta release, so there is no installer etc. yet.
