It's just going to turn into a vicious circle, and as usual it'll be the normal law-abiding citizens who suffer the most for it.  Wait for the blowback when the shooting victims transition from "just" being dogs and blacks.  It'll happen.

Neither the police nor the protesters are really to be respected at this point.  I know I don't particularly feel safe among the former and certainly don't think I would among the latter were I to run into any.

I just love how the police saw no other alternative but to strap a bomb on a remote controlled robot, drive it up to the shooter and then detonate said bomb. Real good policing guys, it perfectly validates the whole BLM argument.

Probably a better fate than he would have met in the police holding cells.

    Seriously?

this guy just shot 11 police officers in planed out attack and your concerned about how he is treated?

one thing we wont have to hear now is his "manifesto" about what the heck ever his delusional brain thinks.

No, I have no concern for his well-being whatsoever, he deserved what ever he got. Just stating that if he was brought in alive it wouldn't have been a picnic for him down at the station.

Ironically, thats one of the reasons why he did this.

It's awful. I was actually near where it happened around an hour or so before the protest started. It's a terrible coincidence that they call for an end for violence but use violence to murder officers like that...

There is almost always only one shooter. Early reports always seem to speak of multiple shooters, but it is never borne out.

A VERY interesting Facebook post from a black police officer.

I think he hits the biggest elephant in the room: black on black crime and dysfunctional communities in poor inner city areas.

The one thing which vexed me, given recent news, was how there is this feeling around that there is a 1960s oppression lingering and attempts to recapture the Civil Rights Movement in its prime. I knew various things: high abortion rates, absentee fathers and higher unemployment. But piecing it all together; Jay Stalien has done a wonderful thing with this post.

    Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

    This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

The one thing that is being downplayed and not discussed very much is the use of a robot to kill the suspect. I'm not about to suggest that such a course of action wasn't justified considering the circumstances, but it does set a precedence of sorts being the first instance of a robot being used to kill a civilian in the domestic realm(apparently this method had previous been used on an improvised basis by the military in Iraq).

It's quite clear that it's only a matter of time before such usage becomes inevitably becomes common place. I only pray that adequate safeguards are put in place before hand.  i.e. protection from remote access, limitations on civilian usage and multiple redundant failsafes for when these machine become completely autonomous.

That whole issue was the first thing I noticed about the story.  Yeah, it's been suspiciously quiet on that front.

they used a tool to do a job, nothing more. Its no different then taking him out with a sniper.

its not like the robot  made the decisions on it own.

Yeah. It sounds like more of that technological sensationalism to me.
