Hello!

This is my second try at a CJ, my first one, Bayview died on the first post. So, here I try again with Myrtle, the renamed Timbuktu region provided in SC4 Rush Hour. I have a pencil-on-paper outline of Myrtle Island, one of the most imprtant places in the region. Enjoy, and critique if you wish!41.gif (P.S. I haven't yet got Infranview if I need it, so screenshots may take a while, sorry!15.gif)

(P.S.S. Sorry if you can't see some of the city/hwy names, the more illegible names are: Blessings, Navy Beach, Shore Harbor, Capitol Zone, and Singer) If you need some help reading the rest of the names, feel free to ask! My handwriting is not the best!19.gif

    If you have Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, all you have to do is click save as and you can select what you want to save your picture is.  It will change the format from whatever you have it as currently.

    in teresting pic of your city, i can see the blue water from here..the building look nice too. lol im teasing, but infraview is a free program u can get on the web, and is very good. not to sound like a mod or anythiing but make sure they are in .jpegs and 800x600 max resolution otherwise u WILL have your pics deleted off the site. they are very strict on the resolution i dont dare to test it. and always be prepared. i hope to see some pics soon of ur region/and/or citys soon. ill keep an eye on this. one question is this gonna be based on myrtle beach, sc or is it a clever name? goodluck

    Yes, IrFanview is what I use.  It is a great free tool and easy to download and learn. I highly recommend it.

    good start on the CJ though, a plan is usually a good sign of great things to come.  I like how your plan nothing more than a simple drawing on a piece of paper.  Some of the greatest ideas in history started as scribbles on a napkin!  lol

    Anyways, from what I can tell on the paper and also what you said, this CJ looks promising. I'll try to comment as soon as you next update your CJ.

    Yay! I have fineally learned how to use Infanview! Now note that I have not founded the island in my sketch above, and I am trying to finish development of another city, so until then I will show the other cities in Myrtle! (P.S. I forgot who asked but I named Myrtle after Myrtle Beach, SC, the city I currently reside.)

    Now I present to you: Beland Point (Can you see this, cause I can't)

    This is a Traffic Circle in the Holland Hills area of Beland Point

    Part of Holland Hill

    Now before I upload anymore, can ANY of you all see these screenshots? They're in .jpg format, and I used 'save as .jpg'. Please Comment, more to come!

    Myrtle Gazette

    Reunion City Street Planning to be Decided by Public

    Reunion City, the future capitol of the United Cities of Myrtle, is going to have an open house for the public. To decide how the city should carry out the plans for the nations capitol. All suggestions will be welcomed and will be considered. The open house will take place at the Woodruff College of Music & Art auditorium. The event will start on September 1st at 12:00pm and is free. The Myrtle National Council will also attend to listen in on the peoples opinions to better to improve the United Cities.

    The Urban Planning Commission has all agreed on certain restrictions and requirements for the layout of Reunion City, the Commission has decided on the following guidelines,

    1. The National Council Building must be easily accessible as well as other government buildings.

    2. Freeways will be restricted to the outer limits as a bypass only or cut and cover freeway.

    3. There needs to be certain roadways designated to carry mass transit lines (I.e. Monorail, an El, or GLR) down the center. (two roads with El in center.)

    4. Must be easy and efficient escape routes in case of city evacuation.

    5. NO AIRPORTS (Already have the Cyprus-La Venta International Airport)

    6. Must be aesthetically pleasing.

    7. Must be unique.

    Now I want to take the time to introduce the seven people that makes up the Myrtle National Council, a parlamentary government without the president or prime minister.

    <ahttp://www.forum.navycis.de/galerie/kleine-bilder/klein-136.jpg width=74>
    Councilman Daniel Forrester, a native of Palma, he understands the agriculture well. He supports adequate transportation and tax breaks on small farmers and low income families. He won a 95 to 5 victory because of his unbiased policies and fair leadership. He opposes unfair advantages to the wealthy and all forms of corruption.

    Photohttp://phoenix.gov/imagescms/district2/index-1.jpg width=121 align=right border=0>
    Councilwoman Meagan Burke, of Levron, is a recovering victim of Identity Theft, she is harshly opposed to dependencies on credit cards. Since her election into the Council she has declared all out war on Identity Theft and other various and relating crimes.

    width=149>
    Councilwoman Shyril Franklin, of Beland Point and representing East Ridge, is somewhat of an envornmentalist and has tryed to pass clean air acts for Industrial Island claiming toxic fumes were entering her city. Although she has failed, Franklin has limited growth in Beland Point to preserve the land for the remaining wildlife.

    width=479>
    Councilman Kyle Weismann, of Cyprus and representing La Venta, is a smash hit with the young people of Cyprus. Encouraging a healthy nightlife while making it safe for everyone proved tough for Weismann. Weismann is the youngest Councilperson ever to be elected into any governing body in Myrtle (Age 26). His outgoing way of leading his city is cunning if not ingenious. He is a strong opposer of drug and alcohol use.

    <ahttp://www.filasiete.com/freeman.jpg width=161 align=right vspace=10>

    Councilman Jacob Graver, of Nicobar and representing Nicobar Heights, is a strict but kind member of the council. Despite is somewhat morbid name he donates regularly to childrens hospital around the world. Graver has served on the council for three 4 year terms and one of the most celebrated leaders of his time. He is strongly against all sorts of violence.

    <ahttp://www.cnn.com/CNN/anchors_reporters/images/zahn.paula.jpg width=280>
    Councilwoman Charlene Hertian, of Varna and representing Austral, has been deemed the sexiest person in politics. Beauty aside she is a frim grip on justice and has no tolerance for corruption, she has jailed numerious Varnian Police Officers for blackmail and various insurance fraud charges. Hertian is a promising feature in the National Council to inforce a clean government.

    <ahttp://nellmedia.com/colbert/images/gallery/knowingsmirk.jpg width=467>
    Councilman Mark Van Dorn, representing Reunion City, was elected 79 to 21 to fill the vacant Reunion City seat in the Council. He graduated Magna Cum Laude at Harvard studying government and world economies. His election was no suprise due to his education. Van Dorn hopes to make a strong and powerful goverment with out going into bankruptcy in Reunion City.

    I hope you like the leaders of this nation! Now, I've got a few more screenshots of Cyprus to present!

    Cyprus-Dec.%2027,%20201136505876.jpg

    The Cyprus Waste Management dump site! I think Pegasus was the contractors in the construction

    Cyprus-Dec.%2028,%20201136505905.jpg

    The Myrtle Ferry Transit Athority terminal, connecting cities, improving lives!

    Cyprus-Dec.%2029,%20201136506255.jpg

    And last but not least, the Cyprus Interchange. It's very important to the city as a connector to the Airport, Nicobar, Downtown Cyprus, and Industrial Is. Councilman/Mayor Weismann ordered all major junctions to be surrounded by parks to make it more pleasing to look at and to provide a haven for people to take a break from city life.

    More to Come! Don't forget to input your ideas for Reunion City (Since I don't know how I should create street plans for the nations capitol 4.gif)!

    All right, I made a rough plan for you. I had nothing better to do, so I came up with this. You said it's got to be unique, and I tried to achieve that. It's only a mid-sized city tile to build on, so no room for anything enormous, not in terms of population either. Because of that, this should be adequate.

    reunionplan.jpg

    Blue lines are main roads; black is El/GLR line. I thought the rail would be GLR in the middle of that wide boulevard, but elevated elsewhere. You could also use el-on-road, since you clearly have the NAM; I put a section of that in there, too. Buses would be other main transportation option.
    Then...
    1: This is a capitol, right? Government building here.
    2: Would make a nice piece of shore for some seawalls. Maybe add a yacht port etc. as well.
    3: An industrial seaport area; behind it HT and M industry. (As little I-D as possible)
    4: The CBD.
    5: A convention center should fit in here.
    6: Large transit center with some commercial.
    7: I'd keep this area as a natural park if I were you. Could maybe use Peg's MTP pieces there.
    8: Put another Y-interchange here.
    Notes:
    -Zone nothing directly against the highways. (Which are avenues for the game.)
    -Only intersect the main highway a few times (I 'cut' the crossing lines on that map where not, if you can see.)
    -Use mostly medium density for your zones. Add some high in CBD and low on the outer areas, though.
    -Get a slope mod. Roads look otherwise crazy on any steeper terrain. (As seen on some of your pics...)
    -Move that power plant out to the industrial area.

    OK... That should about be it. 21.gif ZePlan thanks you for your consideration. We hope it suits your purposes, if you happen to use it.
    As a more personal comment, you have a nice lil' CJ there... I always like the ones where I can interact a little. (Not that I'd make such journal in case I made a CJ myself, I won't let others rule me! *evil laugh*) 'Nuff said. Good bye.

    /Zed

    Zeddic: Thank you for your suggestion! I like the idea of having the #2 area set aside for seawalls, since the region relies moderately on ferry traffic I could set part of the #2 area aside for ferry terminals.

    Also, I honestly don't like industrial areas mixing in with residental and/or commercial areas, sorry I didn't mention that earlier. And besides Industrial Island is just a quick drive through Cyprus or a ride on the ferry. Other than that I really like your idea! If any more ideas get posted, yours will have set the bar! Thanks alot Zeddic!

    By the way, I need the power plant in Reunion City, the plant is the sole privider of electricity to La Venta and the Airport.

    Also I must ask, wha are the purpleish zones? Are they parks?

    Thank you Micah! Yes, Myrtle has come along way, I'm glad you liked the Councilmembers! Cyprus and La Venta are sitting in the middle of a dispute between Myrtle and Tutoria (The Tutorial Cities in the Timbuktu region in SC4 Rush Hour) that could erupt into something awfull. I hope more people will visit Myrtle in the coming ages!

    Also I thought this might be interesting for you all to know, the citizens of the United Cities of Myrtle has approved of a new national flag! The flag is coming soon as well as La Venta, the Airport City
