Hey everyone! I need your help. I'm developing a new region called Belo Horizonte, a height map of the city in Brazil. region.thumb.jpg.13d1443e257f58fa13f2498But I am having a problem with RHW, with traffic vanishing in the neighbor connection. In the residential city, it has a lot of traffic passing through my RHW-8, like this image shows, a 300% traffic in RHW:

But in the second image, in the major city, 2/3 of the traffic just don't want to show! Just 3000 cars in the Same RHW-8 connection!

This totally screws the plan of having a busy Highway in the CBD! What should I do?

The Neighbor Connector Pieces need to be placed facing the right direction on the tiles with the Neighbor Connection Arrows in both affected cities (the Neighbor Connection arrows will always point out toward the other city with the RHW--this is no cause for concern).  If there is any gap between the two sides of the highway (1 or more tiles), then you also need to place the Invisible Loop Connector pieces on the blank terrain tiles between the two sides, with the <N> arrows going perpendicular to the highway.

Additionally, make sure both city tiles have had some time to run the traffic simulation after setting up the connector.  It can take some time for the simulator to refresh and recognize that there is traffic coming in there.

It should also be mentioned that the simulator assumes that sims traveling to a new city can reach the jobs available; when you play that city your sims were traveling too, and the simulator cannot make those jobs connect, they simply vanish.  It has no affect on sims heading to that city when you are playing other cities, unless those jobs get filled by locals.

In the last image, the number of Jobs in the city called "Center" are bigger than the number of the people of the region, so I don't think that will be the problem, unless the real problem is the distance between the RHW and the jobs. (It's a controlled acess highway with few entries and exits in a urban centre). I will try to "redo" this neighbor connection with the tips of Tarkus reply.

Not sure if I'm breaking any rules of reviving a year old thread but... I've been on a year break due to being burned out from all the mods/addon craziness I got caught up in, so please help with an answer and let me avoid the craziness for now.

This connector thing, how does that actually work? I've tried various things that haven't worked (well/at all) and just tried to drag a RHW-2 to connect and then placed a RHW-4 NC piece on top at the edge. Is that how I'm supposed to do it? Because two of four arrows point in the wrong direction even though I dragged the right hand lane in both cities towards the border.

Ignore the arrows.  The game will only have an inbound arrow if you're using a natively dual-tile network (i.e. Avenues or Maxis Highways); otherwise, it'll always show outbound arrows.  The neighbor connector pieces are actually compensating for this fact, but there's no way to actually change the game's arrows in this instance (aside from installing a mod to remove them altogether--ebina had one).

The only way you're really going to know if your RHW neighbor connection is set up properly is once you've done the process you've described (which seems to be correct) on both city tiles that are involved in the neighbor connection, and have the highways connected to go someplace, such that there's a reason for traffic to use them.

Thank you. It seems like it is working. I thought I had to have those (ugly) arrows pointing in the right direction. One lesser headache. :P
