"Unpowered" building not showing up in Data View

The Utilities Advisor keeps saying that some sims are supposedly not getting power. But the Data View isn't showing any unpowered buildings. Is this a bug?

Did you check the actual power utility to make sure you had some headroom?

Sometimes the game bugs out and doesn't deliver power properly. Make sure all of your zones have proper access or power linkage, and then, if the problem persists, replop your power plant, or consider placing a second one down elsewhere. I've noticed this problem more with my water than with power.

Also, I'm not entirely sure that the data view properly lists unpowered buildings. I think it only registers whether or not the buildings are properly connected to the power system (either by zones, plopped lots, or power lines). If you do indeed have a power shortage that is low-grade, your city will experience rolling blackouts that may be hard to spot, and this won't show up on the data view for sure (rolling blackouts happen daily, and the data view only updates monthly at best).

Rather than use the Data View, start with the Graph View, it will tell you your cities power needs and current generating capacity. So at a glance you will know if you have enough power or not.

Then query each of the power plants you have, they degrade over time, perhaps one is not running optimally and needs replacement?

Otherwise, as APSMS says, check the whole is connected to one grid. Sometimes you get isolated pockets which have access to energy that's not connected to where it is needed.

Check the power view.  Blue areas are unpowered.

Be careful of the advisors, they all have hidden agendas.

I'm currently using a 1x1 cheat building that is basically a powerplant that generates 10,000,000 power and doesn't degrade over time, so I'm pretty sure I got plenty of power. Also the advisor seems to think there are buildings not connected to the power grid as his suggestion is to build more power lines

Ok, I managed to narrow it down by adding residential zones until the problem went away, there was a small blank section that didn't seem to get power from power lines no matter what I tried, so I just put a residential zone there which seemed to have shut him up.

There is a mod on the STEX, called Utility Radius mod (I think). I use it to allow me to power my entire city without the need for powerlines or zone connections.

It's by Raphael Ninja. Don't drop the whole thing in your plugins; I'd just use what you need; Power is the most obvious, and you may want water as well, but I find that controlling water connections is a great way to limit growth and/or wealth development in certain neighborhoods, so YMMV with water connections.

    EDIT: Found it! See Below.
