Hey Guys

Recently got a new computer and have to download all my mods again, completely forgot that alot of them need prop packs. Is there a list of a bunch of prop packs that most people us?

Sorry if this has been asked before. Many thanks.

Without specifics about your plugins, I think that is a very broad request as even specific authors (for example, BSC) may have different dependencies (in different packs) for different items.

However, anytime I hear dependencies - and especially dependency packs - I think SC4 Devotion. Even things uploaded here that require dependency packs often link these dependencies from SC4 Devotion.

Their most popular lots for downloads are actually mostly dependency packs, so chances are that what you need is in that most popular list, but then again, this is only a generic pointer:

https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_lotlist.php?orderBY=popular

You can also power search: https://www.sc4devotion.com/csxlex/lex_search_00.php Do not forget to select "Dependency Pack" on the "Broad Category" section.

Also, before downloading and installing, do not forget to check if these dependency pack has been superseeded.

EDIT - just noticed that you lost all plugins as opposed to only the props themselves. In that case it is best of course to only download the dependency packs if your new mods require them as there is no single or even a dozen cure-it-all packs.

The thing is, this is simply too expansive a question to realistically answer. Everyone has different mods and plugins based on their personal preferences. There is no simple download one file solution to this problem. Whilst building a plugins folder anew can seem like quite a chore. You will be rewarded with an efficient game and ability to manage your plugins easily, if you put it together carefully and in an organised fashion.

By and large you could say that installing many of the BSC Mega Packs will get you off to a good start. But for me, that's the wrong way round. Because the dependencies you need are based on the content you install. As opposed to downloading dependencies and then finding all the content that uses them. Which will inevitably only need more dependencies too. So just find the content you want and go through the required dependencies for each. If you give all such dependencies a dedicated folder, you can easily tell at a glance if you already have them later. Don't miss also the feature of the LEX that tracks dependencies for you. It will remember which you have downloaded, so assuming you install every file you download, you will know if a mod hosted on the LEX is using dependencies you already have.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Just because you got a new machine doesn't mean that you can't port stuff from the old one.  Didn't you think of writing out your SC4D user area to some other medium so you could recover it?  If not, just do a total restart from scratch and start picking up things at need.  Each download generally has a list of dependencies.  If you no longer have access to your old hardware you have my deepest sympathies.

The thread Vital Links is a step towards answering your question. As more and more peeps participate there it'll be more likely we can come up with answers for newbies to the game (like myself) or re-installer / start-over peeps. Feel free to start a post there and list what steps you took to get what you want. You trials and tribulations and successes might help others later. ;)
