Help Please

Hello,

I have previously selected one of BLAM's cop car models/dats to use in my cities. Somehow,  it has disappeared replaced by a black and white police car that I cannot locate the files for. Having problems finding the model/dat files etc.

 

Any ideas??

Computers don't do things like that without instructions.  Time for a malware/virus scan I think.

Another thing to look for is whether your disk is badly checker-boarded and things are getting pushed off because the MFT is full.  Since Windows 8 the defragmentation operation is supposed to be automatic, but if you have any doubts open My Computer, pick your disk drive and run Disk Cleanup (stand well back while this runs).  You will get a list of junk files and it is up to you to decide whether to keep any of them.  After that, run the Disk Defragmenter, but only on rotating storage.  Defrag can take overnight if you've never run it before.  To recover lost sectors you may have to run CHKDSK.  This runs off-line so after you set it, you must do a cold boot.

If you post a picture of the new automata (Police Car) you don't want, it will be obvious if another file is overriding it or if it's reverted somehow to the default one.

From that, it should be possible to tell if you've inadvertently removed a file you need (The BLAM files) or what files you've accidently installed that are overriding it.

I don't expect there is anything wrong with your computer or hard disk, in any case, before doing anything drastic, I'd start with a few basic checks.

You DO NOT need to defragment a drive in Windows Vista and onwards. The OS takes care of this for you, this kind of problem has been long since ceased to be an issue for most users.

Thanks for the replies. I will take a picture of the car and post it. Agree re: defrag etc. This PC is new and is a beast. The only thing it's running is this game.
