What virtual CD/DVD programs work with simcity 4?

I'd like to play the game without having to insert the physical CD. Right now I'm using a program called Gizmo. I mount the virtual disc in virtual drive K, and the screen comes up I hit play and absolutely nothing happens, it doesn't start.

I can't tell you exactly what programs to use to do this. It would be a violation of the Maxis terms and agreements. I can say that the SimCity 4 Discs use the Safedisc version 2 system, so searching for a ripper that copies this protection along with the virtual drives that handle this type of iso file should help.

Even easier is to install steam and use your code to get the digital copy so you don't have to worry about the Safedisc protection issues.

If you have the CD version of the game, it is defunct unless you remove this patch (after XP).

Keep an eye on the game vendor sites for the digital copy, which often goes on sale for as little as $5. U.S.  This version does not use the Safe-disk system.

You can get this from either Steam or Origin.  If you convince the folks at Origin that you have a legitimate copy of the CDs, they'll give you the digital version free.  The problem with these DRM vendors is that they don't use the regular structure expected by any of the after market add ons such as the BAT.  Hand springs necessary to install this stuff.
