Hey Guys, How are you doing? I'm not sure that here is the correct area to post that, so if it's not here, I'll finish this post.

I'm coming here today to present you my BRT concept, inspired from what I've learned from real systems. So sit down, and I'll show you how can you build your own BRT!

Ahmedabad_BRTS.jpg

But, what is a BRT?

BRT is system that is operated by buses with high speed traffic, high frequency in exclusive lanes/roads.

They're typically applied on major routes with frequent headways or where traffic congestion may significantly affect reliability.

Median bus lanes are applied along the centerline of a multi-lane roadway and should be paired with accessible transit stops in the roadway median where needed.

How can we bring that concept to SC4? Actually, is quite simple.

You need:
HTBusTerminal

For terminals and Final Stops.

MIS and RHW-2

Why using MIS? MIS is a low-cost solution for BRT traffic, because it splits traffic in separated Lanes, like an avenue, without extra-lanes, that could be expensive. RHW-2 Fits in even less space, but it's dangerous for High-Speed Traffic and it's only used in situations with fewer space.

RTMT Ave bus stops

Why using just them? In real world BRT's, Avenue Stops provides traffic increasing, because some buses can stop only in selected stations, providing a greater commercial speed.

Great stuff :). That's a pretty decent proof on concept you have worked out here.

I suppose this is the benefit of median bus lanes, rather than using them on the outer parts of the network.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Thank you! Yes in real world, like SC4, Median Bus Lanes provides High-Speed traffic and less mixed traffic interventions.

    PART 2:

Like any concept, this also has its limitations. There are no traffic filters for NWM, causing the entry and exit of buses within the exclusive road, turning our BRT in a BRS.

There are no ways (yet) to make a bus stop spawn a unique type of bus, which would contribute to the realism of the game, since the BRT system usually has a very strong commercial identity, including highlighting the bus with different colors and often also using articulated buses.

Another problem with the game traffic simulator is that you can not control the input of the exclusive bus lane without blocking the roads surrounding the exclusive BRT route to the common bus. Any crossing becomes a danger to the exclusive lane for buses that were spawn within the exclusive BRT lane as a bus can just decide to go in there and there's nothing we can do about it.

There are no bus stops inspired by the BRT in SC4. Since they work with the logic of "payment on the bus" when the BRT systems have payment before shipment, such as trains and subways around the world.

Perhaps there are other limitations that I have not realized, but the concept I want to show is that it is perfectly feasible today, despite limitations, having a BRT system in your city

This is very interesting.  The biggest problem towards getting it into the NAM will be the deep backlog of stuff that is already there.  If you don't feel like tackling this alone, I'd suggest you hunt around for some collaborators but keep the NAM team in the picture if you can.

I haven't done any work of this kind in around 40 years, so while I'd like to help, I no longer feel capable.  Best of luck with this.

I made a mistake. Allianz parking lot spawn some styled buses, but they're not UDI enabled. But, with that information, we know that is possible to spawn vehicles that it's not a in game substitution. I think that creating this is possible...

I don't know how you feel about UDI, but the first thing I do when I start a new city is turn it off.  I use it maybe once a year when I am diagnosing a pathing problem.  Don't think I've used it in the last year or so at all.

    Sorry for double-posting :ohyes:

This video gave us an real world example of the solutions that could be used in a BRT in a camera that shows Rio de Janeiro in a SimCity like. Most of them are really feasible in SC4

I'll have to say sorry for you guys, because it's in Portuguese. (Supervia it's the Suburban Rail)
