Speeding up Game loading times

I have a very encouraging upgrade case with the use of the DatPacker. Here's my set-up:

• Current total Plugins folder: approximately 32,000 files and 4.7 GB worth of content
• PC: AMD A10-5700 APU processor with Radeon HD integrated graphics, 3.4 GHz and 4 cores; 8 GB of RAM
• Hard drive: not sure but suspect it's one of those common drives running at 7200 RPM

 

Before DATpacking, here's how my performance went:

• Medium city load times of 10 to 12 minutes
• Large city load times of up to 25 minutes
• Ridiculously large park menu would take up to 3 minutes to load
• Saves in big cities could take up to 5 minutes

 

With DATpacking, roughly following my original folder structure, and excluding mods like NAM and my main terrain mods:

• Current total Plugins folder: approximately 1,460 files, no appreciable gains in size reduction
• Medium city load times from 1:00 min to 1:30 min
• Large city load times from 2:00 min to 3:00 min
• Most menus load in less than 5 seconds, including the park menu
• City save takes 1 minute
