What reader is the lastest?

I noticed there is ilives reader, and sc4reader

But even more confunsingly, when I went to check my ilives version, by opening using a shortcut, it opens a installer (that i was confused, and cancelled), and when I go to its folder, it opens normally...

Since I could not find what version it was, I found the changelog on its folder, the changelog says the most recent version is v1.5.2b of December 2015, but the files were last modified this march... thus making me even more confused.

I tried looking for it on google even, ended only finding version 0.8 on STEX, and no newer version.

So, what reader I should use, and where I get it?

iLives Reader: v1.5.2b is probably the most recent. The only other version worthy of mention is 0.9.3, which is flagged as a BETA. Until recently newer versions had a nasty bug so many modders preferred to keep the reliable 0.9.3 instead. Thanks to Tropod, this bug seems to have been squashed, 1.5.2b is a little easier to use, so I'd stick with it.

SC4 Reader is similar in terms of what you can do, but it's not the same tool. Some things are better done in Reader, others in SC4 Reader. It's useful to have both around though.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

just to reaffirm what rsc204 has stated;

iLives Reader: most recent version is actually v154 https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?topic=10417.msg498883#msg498883 (comes as an installer) & will most likely be the last, unless someone else decides to update it. My old (WinXP) hard drive seems to have finally died & while source code is available online my programming environment for that was on there :( & requires quite a lot of updating to the source code to continue coding under unicode. v093 was probably the last/best version before ilive updated it to newer interface, which some don't like.

SC4Reader tool; current version is v150, released only few days ago. Has a Regional Map viewer & Plugins scanner among many other things.

Both tools are quite useful in their own right.
