Hi, I wanted to know is there a way to make new power poles for Cities Skylines. It would be cool to add you power pole types in the game, maybe use them in the game to challenge the player a bit more. :)

Here's different types of powerline pole.

Yes, with a mod. But new cable meshes will also be required.

I was working on the mod. Right now I don't have the time.

Do those cable meshes have to be attached to the poles or do they just need to have the right increment distance between areas or something?

Hum, that is something I would like to know? How to do the wires, or do in by programming?

Wires are special meshes. Of course, it also involves programming to replace them.

Initially not, but the network was added to the road editor in the Christmas update. I haven't tried it yet, but I can help you if needed.

14 hours ago, Tim The Terrible said:

Cable thickness depends on mesh scaling. It's complicated, but you have control over it.

Right, but there's a floor for exactly how small it will go.

Here's a mesh that is 0'0.245" in size

But it still yields a fairly sizable cable when the wire shader is applied (ignore the artifacts, I just threw the test together):

Sure, larger meshes will make larger wires, but this is as small as I could go. - do you have any more specific information?

Thanks all the help with this folks!

Well, I tried that a long time ago as well, and found out that scaling the mesh down won't make the wires thin, but thicker as you show. Try upscaling. Also, although they can probably be thinner, I suggest using the vanilla wire mesh. I think they are a nice balance between realistic thickness and being visible. I will do some testing tomorrow and see if I can make some sense out of the shader.

Was wondering if the mesh from the tram or train power line cabling would be the right size, whether it is possible to use them for normal power lines not sure on that..

One thing might want to get in touch with GCVos as they created http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=665859116&searchtext=utility these power poles..

They look the part but were created before this new option in the editor was released but they might help with ideas..

Wonderful work! Are they draggable, it would be cool to see some modifications to it like add street lights, transformers to them and have different model styles of poles, maybe telephone/ cable line too. *:D

Edit: Try to make the wires a gray color I think that is more real.
