I haven't seen this around in the forums for at all... But considering it's a strategy game that no one actually knows aside from around 3 community members, let me introduce to you the 2 Strategy Games made by the Japanese Video Game Creator KOEI (OF Dynasty Warriors Fame) :P. Actually I'm posting this because there are exciting things that they announced on the internet about the games launching in North America.

The first game is called Nobunaga's Ambition. This is the very first grand strategy video game, and is the predecessor to Europa Universalis and the Total War Franchise. This game celebrated its 30 years of existence last year. I was able to play the latest one (Nobunaga no Yabou: Souzou) and the very first Nobunaga no Yabou from 1983(!) (Which was included in the pack that I bought here [For $200 for a Collector's edition it was well worth it though], It's run through ASCII), which may predate all the Computer Strategy Games. First of all, here's some of the screenies for the first Nobunaga's Ambition (I didn't know what the heck I was doing since it was all in Kanji that I can't read)

i32pj.png
The kanji means "Nobunaga's Ambition" (From top right to bottom left = Nobu-naga-no-Ya-bou)

Here's an Interesting Map:

And here is the battle sequence, there's literally nothing that I could understand from here :P
i32zW.png

I don't think that would be released in the English Version because it's very BASIC indeed :P

The next set of pictures is from the Latest Edition of the Game, Nobunaga no Yabou: Souzou (Powerup kit). This one is a little easier to understand, although necessarily I don't know what the heck is going on between the political rivalry of this and that but it does give me some insight to the Sengoku Period. Have a look below:

This is the map you used for the game. It looks rather tiny compared to EU, but the depth of gameplay is so deep that it might take you ages to occupy everything on Easy.

Here are my chips right now for my saved game. As you can see I'm on my way to invade territories

This is what my closest advisers are saying. I don't know what they are talking about but they don't look happy at all

Also, the game is known for its particularly detailed and accurate drawings of generals during the era, Check these below (this is page 1 of 5; there around 380 per page):

Now here's the good news: Although the pictures that I posted above are in Japanese, I am letting you know that the game will be available in English as Nobunaga's Ambition: Sphere of Influence, coming to Steam this 1st of September!.

NOW RELEASED WORLDWIDE!

The second game that KOEI makes is Romance of the Three Kingdoms. The game already have 13 editions of it and is celebrating it's 30th year this year (2015). This game is set in the Chinese Mainland during the Three Kingdoms period, and it has a little more different style of gaming than Nobunaga's Ambition. This will be released only in Japan in 10 December 2015. Depending on the sales of the aforementioned game above, it may or may not be released to North America.

Here's the one officer art from the upcoming game (Cao Cao):

I know this is quite a lot of information for such a game but I hope you enjoy it :)

I wish I could play that game. It looks very complicated though, lot of ingame mechanics, kind of like Civ or Europa Universalis. And the fact that it's only in Japanese doesn't help. However can you construct buildings to improve your economy for example, I do prefer games where there's some kind of mechanic where improving your economy is important.

^Nobunaga's Ambition will be released in English on July 28th at Steam.

Yep, it does include economic mechanics, where you need to balance rice, gold and soldiers. It's at the very first menu. It also includes policies, stuff that you can upgrade and build, etc.

This game(s) are extremely complicated that even playing in easy is difficult xD

Looks waaay to complicated for the likes of me. :P I've been playing the Civ series for as long as I can remember and I still have much to learn and master.

Sounds like I've got to save up money though? Any news on how expensive it will be upon release?

Because I suddenly remembered that this is the reason I rarely open SC4 these days (and the fact that SC4 always crash)

I want to share a few images from my games. I find it very easy actually especially due to the province tool where you can just let your regents capture your neighbors. Even at AI MAX, I can manage to finish the game without sweat. I would say that subjugating other clans takes time but nevertheless easy. The real deal however is the early game, you need to capture other fortress and castles quickly otherwise you will be left behind.

Mibu Clan (Samurai Deeper Kyo) for the win! Even Nobunaga no Yabou cannot stand my being otaku, :kitty:
