Welcome to my hopefully first full City Journal of Harper Woods.

header4fj.jpg

To start it off Harper Woods so far is my most faved region. Right now it consists of 4 different Cities.

gh6cz.jpg
This city is one of the most important cities. It has a current PoP. of 3115 and much industrial. And is a major rail-way for the current Region.

b2wz.jpg
Brighton is even more important. It IS the major rail-way city of the region. Which you'll see later. It also has a major industrial port and area. And a PoP. of 2390 and continuing to grow.

t9wq.jpg
The city of Trenton is just currently a small residence of 959 but home to some more of the wealthy. It will currently be transformed into a big agricultural city.

s1yd.jpg
Now this is a little delightful city. Home to 1004 people it has a small industrial area. Another city with some nice rail-way usage it will someday become a big city.

This is just a preview of these cities and definatly be more to come. To construction and updates and some nice tricks or techniques I do. In the next update ill go more in-depth what mods and what not I use. I hope you guys enjoyed this and will keep with it 44.gif Thanks!

Beautiful looking pics Psyko.  I would have to wonder if you lived in SE MI, from those city names....

Really like the spread-out nature of your region.  Sort of reminds me of something I'd see up in Northern/Central New England.  You've also done some cool stuff with your trees.

I really like your region view, it looks very ragged and realistic. I also like the design of your cities from what I've seen, they look very organically created and very real! The presentation so far looks very nice.

This is a very nice start to a CJ and I hope you contine it. I look forward to more. 19.gif

I have only been to the CJ section once just to lurk around.

I thought that I would finally pick a city and follow it.  I picked yours because it looks like you just started this CJ and I figured what a better way to start following a city then from the beginning.

So far I like what you have done.  Your pics are beautiful.  I can't wait to see the new ones.

Yea, I clicked on it because it's named Harper Woods. My mom's side of the family lives in Harper Woods.

Not much for me to comment on the journal itself, just some names and small pictures. I'm not much of a city journal reader, but I might check back 1.gif

Well, interesting I didnt know there were alot of us

Other then that here is the update I promised, I want to give you guys a good start to this City Journal.

Here is the whole region. Which is quite big. So youll have to click Here

And what good is a region view without the traffic view? And once again the image is too big for me to post here so Here is the other link for the traffic view. As you can see it has some nice rail-ways going all over as I was talking about earlier.

    Here's some info also:
    I enjoy Cycledogg

Very nice update! In your first update you have shown a very nicely designed city, and great use of custom content. The street layout is very nice and the ploppable water looks great. I think I will follow this one! 19.gif

Beautiful work,  I have 2 questions.

    1.  You said that you use the updated NAM.  Is this allowing you to plop your streets at an angle?  I have no problem with the roads but I am unable to get my streets to go at an angle.  I also use the update NAM.  so it this is what allows the streets to go at an angle what am I doing wrong?  If its not the NAM then how do you do it?

    2.  Did you design the landscape your self or did you use something like the landscape designer?

Thanks for some of the early comments. And MsD to use a diagonal street you don't plop them. Hmm how can I expain, Plop down a single street on one tile. Go any direction by 1 tile. And do it again as if you were trying to make it diagonaly. So you have a sort of a Z shape. And when you reach a certain point it will make it diagonal. Youll get the hang of it. And no, I used a region uploaded on the STEX, and forbid I forgot the name, props to the original creator.

Other then that I might get an update up later tonight or tommorow. I hope to see you guys then.

Ah yes that is the region and creator, thanks for pointing that out. Mallow is certaintly one of my favorite region creators.

Also sorry for the lack of updates. I have been quite busy lately with just stupid things. Im gona try and get an update today like tonight or tommorow. We might get another snow-day so we'll see how this will have to go. I have been playing a little bit so there will be a region update eventually. But progress is slow right now and just waiting for the weekend so I can get some playing/updating time.

So I hope you guys stick with this a little. Ill talk to you guys later.

Since I havent had an update recently I hope to get a good update here. I plan on showing you guys the town of Brighton. Right now its still in the building process. Much terraforming is to be done and much to be planned out. Hopefully the growth of the other towns will turn out nice to match Brighton.

So here we go, first; Here we have an image of the updated region. Im sure you can tell that the square is the town of Brighton that you will be viewing today but the light shaded red are the areas of either terraforming or the parts pf some new works I have done which ill show you guys later tonight. So no, its not bloodshed.

Brighton is the regions main transportator. With pretty much all railways connecting and then dispursing to all parts of the region. Its current population is 2566 with alot of recent R$$ and R$$$ moving in with the great job expansion. It doesnt have very many Commercial with only 853 jobs provided but the Industrial sector is much bigger with 1899 jobs provided.

To give you a preview of how big the railways are in Brighton here is an updated Region view of the Traffic view and a little pic of the Train station that is being used.
    harperwoods22zj.jpg

Allright to start it off there will probaly be about 5 images here. This first one is sort of a 'Terraformed Pyramid' with alot of this town's higher wealthy people. You can also see another train station which leads up to the picture you saw previously. And it leads to the other town of Trenton.
    harper4pq.jpg

Here youll see the middle and more bustling part of this town. With the lake there that really brought in the people to move in. You can also see the Train station again in full view. Also pretty much anything below the Brighton sign is undeveloped as you can see with some terraforming going on.
    harper22ne.jpg

This part of town is alot like the last picture you saw, you see the other part of the railway going down to the industrial section which youll see next and a part of undeveloped land which will be put to good use. You also see some more of the residents who live here and most of the commercial that are here.
    harper33sa.jpg

Allright here is the industrial section, its not much but its most of the jobs provided in this town. It has some nice ports which delivers goods to the other invisible cities not yet created 29.gif and you can see the end of the railways with about 200 commuters annually.
    harper41oc.jpg

A little close-up of the section
    harper57nh.jpg

I would also like to give you guys a traffic view and other information about the town but I sort of ran out of time. And I dont want to show the other info until I get more of the land completed. But the education right now is in the middle nothing too high though. I got low crime and have almost full fire coverage to put it into aspects.

Also thanks for lookin at this, I know ive been lazy I guess and not shown you guys very much but I assure you the time will come, the time will come 44.gif Also I want to show you an update of the first city I showed you guys of Garden Heights but ill get that tonight. I got a real bad-ass update of that industrial section and some real beautiful eye-candy that I made. So I hope you guys stay-tuned and enjoy these towns! Later

I really like your little network of railway towns. There's been a lot of rural/low-density CJs lately but yours stands out. Great work! I'm definitely not alone in saying that I will keep an eye out for future updates.

This is probably one of my favorite CJs that I've yet seen, and I'm glad to see it back up.  I still like the park atmosphere and it really works!  I never have any success with mass transit, so good luck with the railroads.

Thanks a ton for the replys. Real glad to see that people with such great journals such as you louisville327 with your Eureka CJ let me know im on the right trank. And metasmurf your Arques CJ looks real great, and those other CJ's are somewhat of an inspiration into my own towns and I know future cities. And pickled_pig thanks for enjoying this, im glad people really like it and it has been somewhat hard to use rail-way I still got some of it unused in some towns.

But with the time I got im going to show you an updated Garden Heights as in the first update I showed you. I changed the industrial section alot. I made it more land sufficient or I just basicly got more industry and made it more smooth looking. Here are a series of photos that I took during the transaction. If you guys want to see pretty much the first step I took refer to This image.

So here we go, I first started off and erased the old part of the industrial section and road-ways. I also destroyed those wind-mills and water towers and moved em as you'll see. I started to add the Marrast Embankment Set also and terraformed surrounding areas.
    harper10cq.jpg

So I continued to erase and terraform and plop down what needed to be ploppled. It was actully pretty smooth going and what I wanted to do came quickly to me.
    harper28rr.jpg

And so eventually everything was erased and mostly terraformed at this point. I also started to fill in the missing tiles and finish the point near the new powerplant and I started to terraform the outer coast.
    harper30xt.jpg

After that I started to use the coast and put up more Embankments. At this point most of the terraforming is done and all that I needed to do was do the coast and lay down the new network.
    harper46aa.jpg

And so on and so on this is what it ended up being before I added the finishing layout and some eye-candy and some industrial.
    harper57cx.jpg

And of all pictures showing step-by-step of a project everyone loves to see the outcome. By using some of the Fences and some more of the Marrast Embankments I thought it turned out pretty well 31.gif I even have a little more for another big high-tech building which I hope comes soon to complete the look.
    harper66sq.jpg

I really hope those images arent eye-bending or anything. It wasnt that bad as a single image I swear =P. But the good thing is that that is only half the update * And don't worry, it'll be different style images =) *. I still got a whole nother section to show you guys that you would all like. And I also hope im not straining those 56'kers out there, im not great at down-sizing images. But I hope you enjoyed this set of pictures and will hopefully stay-tuned till tommorow for my other update. Later.

Oh, and have a great New-Years if I dont see you guys again, I know ill be celebrating National Hang-Over day 28.gif
    Ah well, once again- later.

Excellent pictures Psyko. I like the low-rise layout of your region and the amount of green spaces.

    Keep it up.

Well I hope you guys enjoyed those, im appreciating the comments im receiving. I hope you all had a good new-years and other holidays. I have worked quite a bit on the region. More planning then building. I plan on moving into the agricultural aspects down near the south. But I always LOVE building the metropolises and such so I know sooner or later youll see the city aspect come out of me.

If you guys have any questions and what not let me know, ill be glad to help if im willin 16.gif. I also want to get an update up tonight but I want to try and get to a second page so the first one aint loaded in pictures as it already is 44.gif but just to make it easier on people. But as I said im going to show you Section 2 of Garden Heights where some wealthy people moved in. And a little region update is needed I suppose. I started moving on down. I hope to catch you guys up tonight and enjoy the pics again. Later

Just popping in to say amazing work, Psyko. Everything looks absolutely fabulous. Your use of custom lots is to be envied: from the lakes and retaining walls to the use of all that the NAM has to offer: spectacular. Keep up the great work!

Whats goin on guys I appreciate the comments. Thanks RadioheadFan making use of everything I got takes hours 25.gif but its worth it. Also to you others who commented once again, I appreciate it.

In a little bit im going to try and get an update. There is much done and updated. Im starting to get high-rises and im starting a very $$$ wealthy spot across the bay in Brighton. So I got about 4 updates to do. I have an updated Garden Heights update I need to do, show you guys the new and improved industrial park in Brighton and show you across the bay at the '$$$ Park' as id like to say but is still in development (Alot to do). And I might show you guys the agricultural part ive done in the other city but I seem to be stuck at the moment there 28.gif

I hope you guys will come-back tonight (Whenever my lazy ass decides to update43.gif) and see some of my updates. Im gona try and get a good amount of pictures up. So stay tuned and thanks guys!

WOW! This cj is really amazing. I really do love those rural areas and the farms, you set them up quite nicely! Perhaps we can set up a trade route trading food for other supplies you might need.

Keep this amazing CJ up and soon people will reconize it and you'll become the next Jeronji, you do have that potential.
