Boulder County development rundown (9: Update: Winding Rocks Mountain city y'all

Hello everyone! First a little about myself, I am a avid player of simulation games. I have mostly been a rct3 player for the past 10 years contributing in ShyguysWorld / atari forums. But I also dabbled in the sim city games, expecially Sim City 4 which became addicting once I realized all the custom buildings, and mods there were. But now I have been waiting for Cities Skylines for quite a while, and so far it has lived up to expectations! A very enjoyable game with a bright future ahead of it. So I thought why not start a city journal, or a project I am working on?

Welcome to Boulder County, where Boulder River runs through the Blue Mountain Water Gap. This area is unique because of the beautiful views of the mountains in the distant and also is home to a lot of resources and white water rafting! Some interesting geography notes is that Boulder County is divided by two terrain differences, to the east and south it is less rocky, flat. While the north and west is rocky, filled with hills and granite.

 

 

^ Recently funds were given to create a new town thanks to the wealthy John Hackerson II. The state wanted to increase their population as well as more jobs. The solution was to use this nature filled area and bull doze it. Interstate 95 runs through as well as the Northeast Corridor railway, a new off ramp was needed to be made which it was.

 

The first town pictured above is Croydon, a small quaint town with a elementry school.

 

 

^ A lot of money was granted to build a river bridge across the river. And also noteworthy is the area's premiere source of power the Nuclear Plant.

 

 

^ The Croydon Marina was provided for boat owners to take advantage of Boulder River, which is tidal in this portion.

 

 

^ Up river and Burlington Island. Interstate 95 bridge up ahead, boaters aren't aloud past that point as it becomes to shallow and dangerous.

 

 

^ Blue Mountain Ridge water gap, as Boulder River carves through the mountains, a lot of photographers can be seen around these parts. I hear there is a proposal to create park trails.

 

 

^ A tributary called Wolf Creek, empties into Boulder River.

 

 

^ Back in Croydon you can see the town's elementry school.

^ Rush hour on State Road in Croydon.

 

 

In a few years of time, a few things changed. More houses built, and some local industries have moved in because of the low tax incentives. Rohm Haas Chemical plants can be seen in the distance, which supplies a huge amount of jobs but some smelly concerns as well. But then again whos going to pay for our upgrades? Yeah, suck it up and move on!

 

 

 

^ A few offices were built here, a few start up companies are planning to utilize the space. A small rural farming area is up ahead near Rohm Haas plant.

 

 

^ To the west of Croydon is *drum roll* Croydon Manor, a much more fancier neighborhood and township. Built on a slight hills, the richer folks live there.

 

 

^ In Croydon Manor is one of the older structures dating back to the late 1800's St. Marks Church, supposively its haunted as well.

 

 

^ Built on top of the hill on purpose so people knew where they were going.

 

 

^ Looking at a young Boulder County as it grows to the future.

 

 

^ Due to the increased population and usage, the state funded for extra tracks for more trains. As well as new electric pylons for more power.

 

 

^ To the south of Croydon is a few more plants, a paint plant and chemical factory. More contributers to the economy.

 

At the moment the county is voting for more zoning, older folks are against the move as they like it barren and close knitted. However many believe more people will increase more oppurtunity for expansion. Results will be announced in the paper as soon as it happens.

Update time! Boulder County has experienced a bit of a development boom, and other interesting things have popped up. Lets take a look at the some pictures taken via plane.

 

 

^ As you can see a lot of development west of Bensalem, and the neighborhood was organized in such a way to create less traffic issues. That was one of the main concerns from the residents.

 

 

^ Wolf Creek and a shot of the area so far!

 

 

^ Interesting fact, this brick structure is an old water well station, its been there since the 1800's, now its been mostly unseen due to trees and the suburbs.

 

 

^ A major complaint, and many people fought these apartments from being built, as they were going to be eye sores and cause to much activity and crimes. However the mid rises were built anyway, and haven't caused much trouble. These are the tallest buildings in the area at the moment.

 

 

^ Orange township, one of the organized townships built in the past few years.

 

 

^ A picture I actually like, I love how big the mountains look compared to the suburbs at the bottom.

Part 4: Traffic and its source

 

Local traffic has grew 15% since last year, I wonder why? Well in Boulder County business is booming, and the new highway connection that was thought to help out traffic actually gave reason for travelers to come to Boulder County!

 

But first some new additions in Bensalem.

 

 

^ Bensalem Highschool has all the amenities you'd want for your acne faced teens, but with a price to Bensalem tax payers. 

 

 

^ Down a little bit south is St. Marys Premier Medical Center / Hospital which has state of the art surgical units and technology. Many travel from the state to come here.

 

 

^ Up a bit north, proposals for a new taller highrise went through and now we have the area's tallest building so far...

 

 

^ Damn traffic, but where is it coming from?

 

 

^ Hmm, this might be why...

 

 

^ We will find out soon what this place is...

^ A overview of what has been added, a bit of expansion!

 

 

^ A bit of development was pushed next to Wolf Creek called Creekside township, and on the otherside of interstate 76 (Which was made to control traffic going across Boulder River.) is the Penisula Point another small township full of more wealthier folks.

 

 

^ Along with Interstate 76 began the expansion of the rails which allows for the freight from the industries across the river to get over quickly and more efficiently. But not without a few complaints from neighbors of Penisula Point. 

 

 

^ Interstate 76 and beyond, along with a bypass which leads to the southern part of Boulder County.

 

 

^ To the north is Metromills a small city by Wolf Creek, home of Boulder County Community college, and many older buildings from the early 1900's.

 

 

^ The downtown of Metromills has interstate 95 cutting through it.

The third from last picture... Mad sloped roads, mad! But that elevated curved avenue is a real beauty. While the weaving on/off ramps for the interchanges are so snake-like. Good stuff!

^ Its a challenge, instead of using a moderate flat landscape I decided to make it hard and interesting.

^ They are the ones that pop up, they are mainly townships, towns, and cities. Sometimes I name a complex just for the hell of it.

A little bit of an oddity today to start things up, but I'll stick to the storyline..

 

 

 

Boulder County Courier Times

Yesterday saw tragedy as a train engineer on drugs took the wrong track on the northeast corridor, somehow in a miracle of a story no one was killed, but a few during the night hours were taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Bensalem. The engineer has been taken in custody, with no bail. More to be reported as it happens.

^ Boulder River was rough today, with a lot of wind as well. Looking at Belton from this view. Belton is considered a small satelite city.

^ Interstate 95, and a small tiny area of highrises called Rapids Point, which is technically a part of Metromills. The fancier folks live there.

 

 

^ And a first look from the vantage point of Boulder island, a island that dates back to the 1700's and used to have a fort on the top before it crumbled. But there are actually homes on here, as well as its own source of power from solar panels.

^ A new area you say? Yes, this area is sort of a home away from home area, considered the mountains. A lot of skiing areas nearby, and mountain homes. The turnpike was built to bring development up here, and so far its worked well.
