I was playing around with the dams trying to make my city drown, but I discovered that I can empty a river with it, I tried few times with no luck, the pressure would accumulate and then spill over the sides and the emptied area is filled again.

So instead of only blocking it, I tried to empty the water somewhere else, and this is what I got.

All those random-looking dams are important to direct the water and disperse it so it doesn't spill everywhere or spill over the dam to the next dam.

I cleared an area so far, the spilled water became almost permanent, and even started to show the current arrows when starting to build a new dam, the spilled water goes back to the river again at the upper left corner of the image, I added another small dam there to make it spill there more easilly, it took some time for the water to fill all that land, but now it's almost constant, it doesn't go back and forth.

The area on the left of the emptied river part, is also being emptied.

It does look messy though :P

Looks pretty interesting. Just don't flood your city!

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

BTW if you have some standing water in an area, you can place a water pump to suck it up.

Now after activating the money cheat I can do all I want, before that I have been limited by the number of dams because of the budget and week revenues that have to be green.

Anyway, now that I have unlimited money, I can do things faster, I removed all the old dams and made new ones that are better orgenised, but still work pretty much the same way, emptying the excess water in the land and direct it back to the river far on the other side.

I know you will be wondering would I do that and loose all that land just to replace it under the river, well, it's because it's cool :P And when I build a city there, I'm going to remove the dams and watch it drown :D

These are helping to empty some water and keep things under control a little bit.

    Y7KEO1u.jpg

I don't think that I can empty more areas of the river now if I do it won't be much, but I'll try anyway.

And this is the city (made without cheats):

How can I add trees like in Simcity4 btw? Like adding a forest without making it tree by tree?

Good luck with clearing all of that water! And those city pictures are very vibrant and eye-grabbing.

There is a tree brush mod in the workshop

Can I do that in city mod?

    Already did :P

I can't clear the rest of the water though

I made a city in that emptied river, and then removed all the dams all over the map.

I always wanted to do this in Simcity 4 :D

I also end up with some new permanent lakes, I don't know about the largest one, it's still draining, I'm sure that there will be something left. The sand if not covered with water for a while will become green again, and vise versa.

    7L1mHbw.jpg

I would be great if I could bulldoze all those trees in the water with one wipe like in Simcity4.

Now I will try to put the city in a circle of dams and bulldoze the rest of the dams

Trying something else, this one is much easier and simpler, also without looking too much land that area is being emptied with no problem :)

I started a new map and I'm emptying a part of the sea, I think it's obvious wich part will be emptied.

Water levels already dropped and are keeping to drop without any problems, unlike my previous maps

I remember when we used to send Sims to the swimming pool and removed the stairs out of it, then let the sim drown on the swimming pool... This experiment is like the genocide version of it!

Nice job, it is awesome to see that there are always users willing to push the games to the limits and see what's under the hood.  ;)

    A very rich bad mayor!

This is great! So funny, can't wait to try it out! Would make for an interesting place to build a city.

    Thanks :D

Make sure to use alot more dams than in my last pictures, I had to add more dams where ever I could so I can direct the currents and make some big waves to empty the area faster when the water level lowers and it stops lowering to it becomes too slow, just place water pumps everywhere, and don't forget to put those sewage draining pipes somewhere else outside the dams, it really helps, it was BorisS1990's idea.

    Area cleared!

Grass will start to grow in the reclaimed land.

I'm going to have to remove all those water pumps, but I'm too lazy to do that now.

I have got to admit that pumping out water is a very cool concept in CS.

Yeah, and all those water current stuff that make all this possible, it's very dynamic! I can't beleive how this game can run so smoothly with all this graphic and systems, but I guess that you all noticed that the graphics looks like dotts (not as clear as simcity5 or Simcity4, Cities Xl and other games, but it is clever to let the game run smoothly despite the size )

Think it's possible to build realistic levees with those dams?

Why would anyone build huge dams in the middle of the sea to build a city when there is much available land or simply build over water ? :P

I don't think it's realistic, but it's possible, they do empty some small parts of the sea or rivers to build underwater tunnels or bridges

Lol! That was pure evil genius what you did. A Modern Marvel and Engineer Wonder that had many Cims in awe then had many cims in OH $&%@! Wish I can see a video of it as it happened. I can see you sitting there squinting at the huge waves flowing in there. If the city stays like that, it would make for a great post apocalyptic scene. You should post this on Reddit if you didn't already.

    Hahaha xD

    I don't have a reddit account I'll make one :D

Do you have a profile there?

I really like the water physics in this game. Your Cj is awesome. :thumb:

    Me too! :D

With that, I'm sure that there will be many awesome mods, maybe a disaster mod or something.

That's a great idea! I'd love to see it too, but I don't think it's possible.

There is a game where you can go underwater, it's Anno 2070.

I emptied another part of the sea where ships routes are, and now the ships go down the dam, sail on the ground, and climb again on the other end, I thought that it will fly over the ground at the normal water.
