More lane options for roads and highways?

Hi everyone,

There has been one thing that has been making me really sad about Cities Skylines and that is the lack of road design options in the game.  Being a long time SC4 and CIM2 player, I enjoyed having the many road options provided by the NAM team for SC4 and I enjoyed having the option in CIM2 to choose how many lanes I want on any given road in the game.  Cities: Skylines lacks the amount of road options that CIM2 has and I find that a bit disappointing :(  After all, I feel like I cannot be super creative with how I build my highways when the only options are 1 lane and 3 lanes.  Same with one way streets... 2 lanes and 6 lanes but nothing in between? :(

So I've been following the Paradox forums closely and it seems that no one really brought this up as something they want to see in C:S.  So I've been wondering, does anyone know if Colossal Order said they are looking into giving more road building options in the future?  And if not, does anyone know if it will be possible to mod functional roads in the game so that we can choose different lane counts, add bus lanes, etc?  It would be really cool if we could have like a slider that we can add or subtract lanes when adding a road :)

All that aside this game is definitely a winner over SC2013 in my opinion and is fantastic work coming from the small team at CO and I can see great things coming with this game in the future :)

Probably took the NAM team a while to come up with their package for SC4, so I'm sure they'll do the same for Cities....we just need patience. :)

I brought this up in Q&A thread here on simtropolis and @Azurescepter said they [CO] want to give us more options, which will make hwy's and roads look way better that they are now. More time is needed as it's only release state of the game.

Very true, I can be patient after all I've been patient for over a decade for a decent successor to SC4 to come out =P

Fair enough.  I just remember in a dev diary (Simulation I think it was) the lead developer said they weren't looking into providing more road options due to the game not needing that level of detail or something like that.  But I must of missed what you said on here, sorry! D=  I haven't been on Simtropolis for a little over a year now and with the amount of news and information about C:S flooding the internet I've been having a hard time keeping up on it all... Anyways I really hope that is true then cause that would be awesome!

EDIT:  I think when the developer said that she was only talking about the power to control how many lanes there are on a road, not all road options in general and was probably only talking about their plans for launch.  Though the question was phrased along the lines of "Can we control how many lanes we have on a road such as two going one way and one going the other?" so she may have only been talking about that kind of precision.  Even CIM2 didn't have that level of control =P

You should read the Steam forums, its a hot topic! Most are convinced that a 'transport DLC' is inevitable, including more road options, buslanes, trams, stuff like that. It doesn't make sense that someone who releases such a polished game overall and the same people who created Cities in Motion would just 'forget' things like that.
