whats up with all the stupid park and intersection mods the steam workshop is nothing but park and intersection mods

no skyscrapers like WTC i thought the asset editor was more powerful/all you can do is put props on in game buildings and create parks and highway intersections!

what happen to changing the properties on buildings and all the good stuff! very disappointed!

It has only been a few days. I've also seen many property building changes.  It's pretty easy to change them in the editor if you don't want to wait.

It's very easy to "build" a garden or an interchange in the asset editor. You just play around with what the game gives you and voilà! That's why people discovering the game did it and shared it immediatly with the world being super proud.

Building... buildings is a totally different beast. The game has only been out for a dew days and it takes time to model things. Be patient.  ;)

Because of this the Steam workshop is out of control. It is very hard to keep up with the mods on the work shop. This why Steam should have bookmarks so you could bookmark in the workshop. It is just riduculs to have all these interchanges.

I'm pretty sure you can bookmark them, just "favorite" it.  It can be pretty overwhelming with how much content is pouring in.  I tend to use the filters on the right to narrow down what I'm looking for and then order them by downloads/rating to find the better stuff.

This site has a growing database of "must have" downloads that help filter out the nonsense,

Simtropolis will also grow over time with quality content, it just takes more time.  The Workshop is just SUPER easy to share content with (no control over it), that's why there's SO much of it.

There are a few new buildings coming in already. I think some of the models are from Cities in Motion or other games (maybe even Cities XL, but I'm not sure about that).

I do find the endless parks and interchanges a bit annoying, but on the other hand it shows there is a fair bit of interest in this game and that's got to be a good thing. I do wish the mods on Steam were better categorised, because the endless parks are showing under "buildings". Right now there are over 2200 mods in the buildings category but only 25 in the parks category.

Worth thinking back to what the STEX looked like in the early days when all we had to work with was the lot editor. As others have said, it's early days and there is always going to be a rush to play with the new tools before thing settle out into higher level custom content.

This is what I was thinking.

Though at least in this case, the "lot editor" and the "BAT" were rolled into the game and released at launch rather than being about a year apart IIRC.

We're already a good year+ ahead of SC4 when it comes to community content, access and potential.  Imagine where we'll be a year from now.

The games been out for four days and the workshop does have a search function AND everything is separated in to categories, I don't understand your problem. The fact we can build new assets easily like working car parks, eye candy to put round a bare looking airport, etc. is a great feature and people are naturally playing and experimenting. I admit to jumping on the bandwagon myself, having uploaded a couple of assets and a new map and I found it very satisfying.

The new 'Steam age' has ment that, once created, its 'one click' to upload and share a mod, whereas before you have to package it all, put in a zip file, write a 'readme', etc. Now its almost TOO easy, hence the flooding. Just like the rivers in Skylines after a dam is removed, it'll even out eventually i'm sure!

It would be helpful if they added a "recolor" category so they can seperate new buildings from just recolors.

I think the stex will be the right place for real interesting stuff, steam will stay a mess.

I still hope that despite the mess, modders here still upload their work to Steam (alongside having their direct downloads that we're used to seeing here) so that those that want to manage there asset installs via Steam can do so versus manual installation...

Like others said interchanges are easy to build in the asset editor but also traffic is probably the most challenging part bout the game so people are coming up with better systems and interchanges to manage traffic properly. The game otherwise is really easy ($ is really no object unless you charge almost no taxes) so traffic is one of those few challenges to overcome, especially when the city balloons in size.

I think traffic is also easy aside ffrom trucks at cargo facitilites. Even then you can make a pretty efficient system but there's no getting around that line of trucks all needing the same lane waiting to load/unload cargo. But then again, my largest city population is only 45k so far.
