Odd funding problem: police and fire

Running into an odd problem in a couple of cities.  Police or fire funding (different in the two cities I've seen it in so far) is... dropping.  Steadily, month by month, the funding drops, until they strike.  I bump it back up -- either at the individual station or universally -- and it gradually starts decreasing again.

I'm at a loss on this one, and couldn't turn up anything via searches on the topic.

Anyone?

Sounds like you have a plugin that is provoking the slider problem.  Have you added a plugin lately that has a funding slider?  If not, do you have the Opera House Fix, which is part of the cure for this?

If a lot with a funding slider is out of band with the possibilities in the game, this is the symptom.

Found the problem.  The cities had previously used some of the Nexis Mini Utilities (one-square fire dept, sheriff's office, etc).  They weren't reinstalled after the big system crash, and the budget was showing them as "Error: No Name" and a funding bar stuck at zero that would drag everything else down.

Further problem:  despite now reinstalling the Nexis Mini Utilities, despite destroying the stations and replacing them with other lots, despite everything, I can't get them to leave the budget graph... which still shows them, and clicking on them still takes me to the location (now occupied by other things).  The system is convinced they're still there, and I'm not sure there's anyway to get rid of them short of destroying the cities and starting from scratch.  :(

Have you tried running cheetah speed for a while?

Sometimes it can take a while for the simulation to process radical changes. Speeding up time may help to refresh things.

Tried cheetah until the cows came home.  No go.

I think it's a core corruption in the game file; I've had very similar problems before when I accidentally remove/edit plugins before bulldozing them.  Roll back the cities if you can; otherwise you'll have to put up with it.

Found this over at SC4Devotion.  I don't know if it will give you any insight, or help.  But it's worth a shot.
