Science fiction is becoming science fact.  All that needs to be added are holographic images and some kind of solidification for them.

Solidification of holograms was not predicted until the 23rd century. Force fields should do the trick but they have not been properly implemented yet (if they have even been invented yet).

True, but sometimes all it takes to get such a thing going is an example.  We certainly have enough CGI text to view in the ST series, particularly the STNG group of episodes.  It is a challenge to postulate something three centuries beyond current technology, and one hopes that someone is inspired to pursue it.

 

NASA has been doing some serious work on a warp drive.  If they ever get enough power to create the necessary no-space, no-time condition needed, FTL will be a reality.  The problem is enough power to bend Einsteinian  space.  At the moment, all the power ever generated by man cannot do this.

Hopefully we will learn how to generate that much energy (possibly through fusion) within 50 years and without needing a nuclear war between now and then (as I remember, Star Trek had a nuclear WWIII that wiped out a lot of life in Asia and caused fallout damage around the world).

However, it is very likely that we as an advanced civilization are alone in the galaxy. Hopefully we find plant life elsewhere in the galaxy...

seems eaiser to do total immersion( direct into your brain like Total Recall's memory implants) rather then try to make a hologram solid.

It looks so weird but cool, The guys in the video look ridiculously funny, like how you see people react in 3D or 4D movies when they're wearing glasses.
