We really need two lane exits and interchanges as well, because it looks so bad just having one lane for 5000 cars!

Wow, where did you get that interchange from? I didn't know anyone has made any new highway additions besides the one in the current NAM.

PS. Sorry, I sounded very noobish then.

And I would like it very much if a 4/5 lane one way road was released, it would look great in the L.C.

I personally would like to see 3 lane roads (in the form of 3-lane one way roads and 2 one, 1 other two way roads).

Heres a long shot...

How about high speed rail?
it would:

-have no intersections with roadways
-either elevated or not, doesnt matter
-very gradual turns
-strictly for passengers (no freight)
-minimum distances between stations.
-UDI is optional, dont think i would want/need it unless maybe i was playing with a large map...otherwise driving the high speed rail would quite frankly be boring2.gif
-the high speed rail would benefit commute times of course.

yea the rail options in the game do try to accomplish the feel of high speed rail but it would be cool to have exclusive high speed rail.

Sorry Schmuck, but you can't create new networks into SC4. The code that controls networks being added is in the SC4.EXE file which can't be modified. But I think I understand what you wanted. The speed of Monorail but with regular trains.

I like the idea with the 2 way exits from highways.

Also I'd like to see a puzzle piece for roads and avenues that act as an underpass intersection, I've been trying to build limited access cross town expressways. Mayby 1 way/1 lane off ramps could do the trick?

I always liked the look of the Y-Sack for rail and Avenues, I think it would be nifty if they added one for highways, but currently i just use the avenue y sack and change my highways into aves and utilize the current one37.gif

A long time ago i saw somebody in the NAM:development-thread or the other general-one showing his one-way-one-lane mod or a beta-version of that... I believe it was Andreas Roth or Goaskin. How's about that, after going a page furthermore there never came a word about it.

Anyone?

Is it possible to do me any custom highway interchanges.
For example:
stack5tg.jpg
A stack
trumpet5bh.jpg
A trumpet
roundend3yy.jpg
A roundabout for the end of a highway.
These would go down great, as my cities have limited space and the junctions would be perfectly sized.

Thankyou, Olly

olly: A stack is included with the latest version of the NAM, under custom interchanges. I think someone is developing a trumpet.

christhebull: I'm not entirely sure what the point of that interchange is. I know for sure that if I were cruising along at 70 mph, I would not want to suddenly have to turn in a full circle.

oreon: The idea of that was as an alternative to a normal ground-elevated highway transition. Lots of tunnel enterances spiral round like that.

Pedestrian mall tiles

I have just recently discovered the NAM and all of its possibilities. Yesterday I played around with the pedestrian mall tiles that are included in the NAM, and I found that they only work for Commercial zones.
So my question is why this is so? wouldn't be great to have pedestrian mall tiles (or say pedestrian residential tiles) that is functional for residential zones...

this would really spice up my regions, as this would make it possible to create residential areas that are not directly connected to road/street 1.gif. these pedestrian residential tiles could be just plain grass, concrete, asphalt, gravel roads or something like that....

Secondly i would like to have more types of mall tiles than are available to date.

But I suppose the mall tiles are low priority....

It's a limitation of the game. Residential always needs to have some sort of road touching the zone, whether or not they use it.

What I'd like to request is a simple intersection change. Currently, with an Avenue-into-Road x intersection, you can only drag a road from one tile of it continuing on the way the avenue was going. Is it possible to add the other side as a possible type.

I had them working on the backside of some Residential-zones where they used it as a shortcut for a GLR station. Then I placed a GLR station closer, and now they are not used any more.

How about Road over empty terrain without supports? I've fount that long stetches of puzzle-piece road tents to look wierd with supports every tile.

Or how about making bridge puzzle pieces? one piece for start/end, and one for the middle.

it would be elevated , and then would have supports above just as a cosmetic addition to the unsupported pieces.

I think something that could REALLY be useful are highway ramp puzzle pieces. They would let you build very complex interchanges and maybe help with sunken highways?...

I donna, just know it could have been really useful today.

Could you make roundabout tiles, I know roundabouts are included in the NAM, but you cannot end motorways in roundabouts, like this:

map.jpg

maybe these could be 4x4 roundabouts.
Thanks - Olly

eight laned road has the same capacity of two avenues but only taking up three tiles instead of four tiles wide this would be a life saver for me and no medians please I don't think this is an addon but a new road entirely

How about adding concrete underneath the elevated highway?  When you would drag the elevated highway, the concrete underneath it would also be drawn and dragged - if this is possible i recommend just broken up looking type concrete and not the fancy pedestrian mall/sidewalks.

recently i saw on here a member trying to make a double deck freeway bridge, with freeway on top and rail on the bottom.the idea was great, but it also brought up something to me that i see in my city (seattle).in the game monorails take up their own tiles.in reality they run above a road, without interfering any traffic.anyone up to give it a shot?
