After looking at the NAM development thread, I think it would be neat to have two things: elevated and sunken train stations. Elevated...I don't know if that would be possible, but a train station with an entrance 8, 10, or 14m above the track and extending over the slope to the road would be fantastic. I'd use sunken railways a LOT more. If I should create an image and take this to some other thread, please let me know.

The Highway On and Exit ramps in both NAM and SC4 are rather... unrealstic.  No traffic lights at the end of the offramp / intersection with the road,  You can't make single ramps, where as in Atlanta and on Toll Roads there are several ramps that have no return access but you cannot do this in SC4 as you have to plop down an entire junction, and also both ramps are too short to be Interstate Grade... The NAM's Single Highway Ramp to Oneway road Exit / Entrance gives you some more versatality but it looks very unrealistic unless you're merging them into a frontage road because the ramp MERGES into an exsisting road rather than BECOMING the road...

I believe a single puzzle peace would allow FAR smoother / better / realistic freeway junctions... I'm requesting and offramp and onramp piece like this... t637701_HighwayOfframpOnramp.JPG

Red = Connection between Ramp / Oneway

Grey = Highway

Black = Oneway

That would make Interchanges like this more realistic and versatile...

t637702_PossibleInterchange.JPG

and also I'd like to request a cloverleaf exit / entrance for a Highway to Avenue and Avenue to Avenue as many Avenue's in Atlanta do have freeway style junctions without becoming an actual freeway...

how about dirt road puzzle pieces, for anyone who doesn't want to use one of those farmland road texture changers?

Need4Camaro:  Well, there's actually a few problems with using Oneways for ramps--primarily, functionality.  They have a much lower speed by default, so commuters are actually less likely to use them in my experience.  I do have a Modular Interchange System (MIS) in the works for the RHW, however, which will solve a lot of those problems.

Gn_leugim:  That certainly could be done.  It won't really be a "ground" monorail per se, as the network does have to be above the ground level to some degree to be realistic.

Pixelrage:  That can be done as well.  It's an idea that I've strongly considered for some time now.

You seriously missed mine...

ShadeSlayer:  My apologies for missing your request.43.gif

At any rate, the only way that that could be implemented is if the settings on Transportation Maintenance are changed around.  Right now, it just changes over to add potholes when the funding is low.  I don't really know much about how that is implemented in-game, or how much flexibility it has in terms of modding.  It is a very interesting idea, though, and thanks for bringing it up.2.gif

talking about 'ground monorail'

what about Ground high speed rail.

i mean its much much more realistic, since HPR is used mostly used for very long distances in the countryside between cities, instead of intercity. because when i use it to run through the suburbs and farm woodland, it looks weird sticking way up in the air.

you could maybe have like security fences around it and have special tunnels or bridges to go over it.

also, is there a way to get monorail and hspr at the same time?

just my crazy ideas4.gif

dosomthin90210:  That's a great idea--I had been thinking of that myself as well.  As far as separating it from the monorail, that's definitely possible, with the puzzle drag method utilized by the new Draggable GLR.  The only real issue I'm aware of is automata-related.  Without any other sort of modification, you'll either end up with HSR trains on Monorail, or Monorail trains on HSR.

Hope that answers your question.

One thing I always hated about the standard ground highways are the "borders" on them, I don't know if Maxis intended them to be concrete barriers or what - they just don't look right. It kind of reminds me of those old snap-together tracks for Matchbox cars.

Anybody thinking of making a GLR/Avenue Station puzzle piece? That would be really handy.

ok this is a bit hard to explain

In Brisbane, we have special roadways closed off for buses only. These roadways also include stations called "Busway Stations".

I know its possible to make the busway part using the HOV lane mod. I am requesting that someone could make bus stations for elevated roadway, and one for ground roadway.

Some pics of bus stations:

What I am thinking of is something like the standard elevated rail station, but with a roadway going through it and having buses using it. It could also be modified for ground use, or even sunken roadways.

This would, of course, require the NAM to work 4.gif

How about a subway only for walking. In the UK you get lots of these around busy intersections so people don't have to walk across busy intersections

Not only Brisbane has that kind of transportation system. Oberhausen, Germany has a similar kind of the thing that you explained. The only difference is: On these trails there are trams as well. but It would be a really great idea.

Here is an example of how it looks in Oberhausen:

the only thing i can think about is unlevel highways.

what i mean is say the north lane would be at a higher elavation than the south lane. I saw this yesterday when i was on the highway.
