Doesn't really look seamy to me. Maybe it's the siderail posts that are looking like that. Great work S & J!

And although it's nice to get them out there, maybe ideas should wait till the process is a bit more refined. I'm sure smoncrie is learning new things each day with this project.

Oh Yes, I am glad that it did work good this time. I dont know how to fix those joints between the models though 34.gif. I made the thinest posible LOD and they can still be seen.  I made the models 16.016 width. Do you think making them 16.000 or any other size would fix the problem ?

Sorry for bumping, but I edited already twice my previous post, and this one is a separate thing.

The stone bridge for road that is rounding my mind....

Jeronij the joint problem doesn't look that bad to
me,however you could try and fix it if it can be done.

this bridge looks pretty good to me.

Jeronij, about that problem. I think if you were to make the model 18 meters long but only have the LOD 16 meters long then those cracks should not show like that. That works for normal batted buildings (like canals) but it might be different with the way bridges are seen. Don't know but try that, it might make a difference.

And I think the new bridge looks awesome. There are a lot of good 'long bridges' MAXIS included, but not a lot of decent short bridges. That one looks real good.

Hello to all,

While Smoncrie makes the hard modding work 2.gif , I have been having fun texturing this preliminary bridge model.

PuenteBravo02.jpg

PuenteBravo03.jpg

Your comments and suggestions are welcome  9.gif !!!

Brtim2, thanks for your suggestion. I will try it. The problem is that each time I render the model, Smoncrie has to make the whole modding from scratch 34.gif.
Vester_DK, maybe the thread tittle should be changed. I think that making this bridge like a Double Deck bridge ( with a nice train under thre road) should not be that difficult to bat, but I have no idea on how the connecting piece should be done.

this is all wonderful work that you people are doing... but whatever happened to the double deck freeway that was going around... is it really that impossible to do or just too impracticle for the game... we all know what eye candy it would be!!!!

Oooh - you know what'd be cool?

A viaduct bridge. Google Arcos da Lapa - it's a good example, in Rio. I'd make it a little wider, however. It'd be an Elevated-Rail bridge, of course.

I'm afraid I can't do the modelling right now. It's doubtful. Maybe if I have some free time on the weekends.... *hopes* I already did some preliminary work on the Arcos at the time of the SC-Brazil contest... but I gave up, since I couldn't make it into a bridge.

I am, of course, willing to do the modding work myself...

I like this bridge because its way more realistic as a nondescript everyday bridge, something simcity sort of lacks

c'mon people, this isn't a bridge request thing. This is a 'hey, maybe this will work, maybe it won't. If it does great, if not then we know it won't work.' this is a broadening of NAM and SimCity4. As you can see there seems to be a problem with the first attempt in the form of black lines between the pieces. So until the first one gets done there will be no second or third. And smoncrie also said, one bridge at a time. That means this one AND THEN the next one, if he feels it is worth it. Let us all see how this one that Jeronij and smoncrie are working on now goes, and then, AND THEN maybe there can be a bridge request thread.

Or you can wait for the tutorial and do it all yourself. But we all know how that works around here.

So can I please put my own request in? That we hold off on the requests until the time it is requested for requests?

alright, this part was to explain about algorithms and dates and times and exporting to get the right id, but apparently there is a much, much easier way to do it that jeronij explained. it would help if i read and didn't only look at the pictures, no?

and before i ask my next question i'm going back to reread the bridge. maybe tomorrow. it's late. but remember what i said above. take it to heart.

I'm not requesting anything - I'm seeing if there's any interest.

Well then I wasn't talking to you, now was I? 2.gif You are one of the people I know would do their own work, you have the experience. I was just trying to control what could have eventually been a request barrage.

But you are right, I think that bridge would look cool in game. It actually gave me an idea about an aqueduct that could be dragged/drug/drugged across a valley like a bridge but without a road texture on top. Eh?

I would love to make something like that, but I jump from project to project too much. I just can't keep my attention. That PM I sent you awhile ago? Yeah, not working on anything close to that right now. I can't concentrate on one thing for too long or I throw my computer out the window.

Hello to all,

this is the idea for a double deck bridge.

JRJPuente02%20tren%20BATpreview.jpg

JRJPuente02%20tren%20BATpreview01.jpg

I did not found a good way to create a connection puzzle piece for this 34.gif. Suggestions are welcome. Mine: We could use a multi-transit lot wich would convert the subway to normal train and put it at the start and end of the bridge. An image will explain it better

<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//JRJPuente02%20tren%20BATpreview%20croquis.jpg align=baseline>

We can use the existing railroad to subway transition pieces to move the railroad before the bridge.

Im sort of confused by that bridge, jeronji. Where will the supports for the railway going to go? how will the supports be done for the road bridge be done? are they connected?

Jeronij, U-V mapping refers to the way a texture is wrapped onto a model.

I have another idea about what may be wrong with the joints between models.   I think that the ends should not be capped; that there should be no model surfaces at the joints that are parallel to the joint (perpendicular to the direction of traffic).

I changed the end pieces and support column positions as you requested.  It was a very simple change.

I will mail you a copy of the mod shortly.

    About your double deck bridge:

Such a bridge will need a new custom puzzle piece for it to work.  This will take time to create.

All the double deck bridges need to connect to elevated networks (in my tests I have used elevated highway).   I will make your double deck bridge match the height of the NAM elevated road (the road deck must still be at zero in the model).  The rail track should probably be 7m or 15m below the road deck (in my tests I used 7m, 15m is ground level).  All road double deck bridges will have to use the same value because I don

Before continuing, I am working with the initial model trying to fix the joints problem. And also changing the look of the bridge which was not exactly what I expected 34.gif

    EDIT:
    hamsterTK
, about the other bridge, this was just the idea. If it can be done, the supports will go under the railroad.
