Probably not then.  My paternal grandparents were both born in England.  My grandmother in London, and my Grandfather in one of the counties just south, his father was a farm hand.

 

I gather Winterton is a common surname in the London area.  Of some interest:

 

John C. Winterton (my namesake) is the retired chief of police in Vancouver, B.C.  -- no relation

 

There is a family of Winterton's in Toronto, one is a city planner -- no relation.

 

Winterton is an uncommon name in Canada, but apparently in the London area it is like Kowalski in Warsaw.

Christopher Lee, Hollywood's ultimate bad guy.

 

Passed to the ultimate west at 93.  A very fine actor.  R.I.P.

Was going to have a great day, then I saw the news and remembered all those movies I grew up with...Goodbye Sir.

 

Christopher Lee was the kind of actor that couldn't even remember the titles of the movies he played in...not because he was old but because he did too many..At age 90, he was still working on average on 3 movies per year. And you could see how humble he was after a career of 69 years.

And he still looked surprisingly young at his age. If I would've guessed his age, it would be around 60-70, but 93? You don't see that coming. Of course, I already knew he was that old.

Fun trivia fact: from all the people who worked on the Lord of the Rings movies, he is the only one who actually met Tolkien in person while Tolkien was still alive.

 

May his legacy continue and never die...

James Horner, the famous composer who wrote the soundtrack for movies like Braveheart, Star Trek Wrath of Khan and Titanic, has died in a plane crash. For me though his best soundtrack was for Aliens and creating THE Alien quadrilogy theme music.
