NAM mod and residential zoning issues

Hello, all:

Didn't have this issue until after I installed the NAM mod:

- Residential zones show no road access despite the fact that each individual zones are facing the road (indicated by an arrow).

- The zones were set near the edge of the map with main roads connecting to neighboring regions.

Any thoughts? Picture to follow once I get home.

Welcome to the Conversation.

A properly installed NAM (32) should not cause this problem except that its larger controller files may cause the pathfinder to run longer.  It is normal for no-road zots to appear on lots being considered for construction.  They disappear if you wait provided the game can find a route to a work place.

At what speed are you running the game?

If these zots bother you, you can get rid of all current zots by typing in CTRL+xtastyzotsCTRL+m.  Unless you have a very slow game due to its large number of objects, you probably won't get this in before the game eliminates them.

I ran the game on all speeds to verify that it wasn't just me who's going crazy. The situation remained the same for all game speeds.

Might just be a glitch in the traffic simulator, try demolishing the nearby neighbor connections in both cities (then save), and then go back and re-build them.

I've done so and reloaded an empty on two occasions to the same result.

You don't have anything blocking the R zones do you?  RTMT bus stations?  Anything plopped over the road?  Have you tried de-zoning and re-zoning?

Nope. Just a regular low-density R zone with the default roads laid out by the template generator and yes, I've dezoned and rezoned to the same effect. What I'll probably end up doing is reinstall the NAM mod.

There is only one road leading away from that settlement.  Are there jobs at the end of that road enough to accommodate all those lots?

Yes. There's a medium industrial zone to the right that's just off the screen.

Ah, and are all these lots for medium density residents?  Medium density industrial will want something better than R$, so maybe you don't have the proper jobs for all those people.  Try changing the job patch to CS$ or farms.

Have you let the time run for a few months?  Or perhaps re-drawing the roads?  That setup should work.

Yes. I also remember that job zoning density didn't affect residential zoning. I ran it on all speeds for a span of about 2 years and the zone remained undeveloped. I just reinstalled the NAM mod so will do a bit more testing tonight.

I really don't think this has anything to do with NAM.

The game glitches out like this sometimes. Just leave the simulator running for at least a game month and those stupid zots will go away or redraw all the roads in front of the zones.
