Bored of this at this point. I'm just gonna say what I usually say and what my responses are.

Me: Blah blah gun control blah blah mental health blah blah background checks blah blah disgusting

Other person: Blah blah freedom blah blah constitutional right blah blah NRA blah blah 2nd amendment blah blah isolated incident blah blah don't use this as a way to take away rights

Sorry if this seems insensitive but I've dealt this argument too many times to be surprised or shocked.

And yet, these tragedies still happen. Regardless of what people say, people are still dying in incidents like these.

It's called compassion fatigue. One reads the article and goes 'oh' and then moves on; especially if the incidence is in a country far away.

Dear sir/madam/whoever will read this!

This profile is now defunct.

Computer problems and issues with accessing my Imageshack account meant My SC4 CJ Scrapbook was lost and utterly irretrievable. This setback put me off SC4 for many months.

Apologies for the inconvenience and for the lost pictures.

But that SC4 itch did not go away and it had to be scratched! I have started afresh with a new account here- The British Sausage

The URS is a spiritual successor to the SC4 CJ Scrapbook.

With this update this will be the last time I visit my original Simtropolis account- admin/mods feel free to remove it or do whatever you need to do. I have no further use for the Ln X (BLANKBLANK) account.

With regards, Miles Saunders-Priem aka. Ln X aka. The British Sausage

American society needs to stop acting outraged at these shootings, it is tiresome. Either admit that the occasional shooting spree is the price we are willing to pay for constitutional freedom or act to change the laws. This constant outrage on twitter and facebook and hashtag campaigns are pathetic. If people really want gun control they should mobilize huge protests around the country and become single-issue voters. Perhaps the fact that this hasn't happened is a sign that we don't really care.

I can't help but notice that the picture at the head of the article is of a military armored transport with a gunner's turret on top labeled "sheriff".

That's pretty scary unto itself. Why do civilian police have military grade equipment?

If you consider occasional almost every month then I wonder what "a lot" would be.

And people are attempting to mobilize said protests. You can't act like absolutely no one is sincerely protesting against the problem.

We couldn't go a day without a shooting happening somewhere in America? How sad... :(

    God help us!

Because, no matter what you believe, you are living in a police state run by a plutocratic oligarchy giving lip service to the Constitution.

I don't see any large-scale protests. It seems to me that American society doesn't care enough yet to really do anything. The politicians wouldn't be in bed with the NRA if it cost them any chance at re-election.

There is absolutely no chance of any concerted action in the U.S. unless there is some sort of national outrage on an unimaginable scale.  It will take a 9/11 type event, and may not produce the desired reaction.

I can think of several that might do it, but I won't even suggest them.

The usual reaction to such events is as follows:

    1.  Finger pointing -- usually in the wrong direction

    2.  Knee jerk legislation taking away even more freedom

    3.  Analysis -- usually with the wrong premise and lots of prejudice

    4.  Consequent increase in police powers and general loss of liberty

The political apathy in America is rather staggering for a people who go around touting all their freedoms that they only think they have.  A great deal was lost in the Patriot Act which amounts to setting up a Court of the Star Chamber complete with Lettres de Cachet.  It essentially erased Habeas Corpus.  All you need to do is accuse someone of being a terrorist and it is about the same as being denounced before the Directory in the French Revolution.

American society is not apathetic over some issues, they just have a list of priorities and gun-control is not one of them. Healthcare, jobs, and education are.

Well if it's not a priority now, then it used to be at some point. I remember watching my local news all the time and see the anchors discussing gun control and showing short videos of people protesting to support the cause. It appears that now it may not be as important.

"One man with a gun can control 100 without one."- Vladimir Lenin said that, I hate to quote him a conservative, but the quote is pretty relevant.

The American government seems to be going after a lot of freedoms lately, take away the guns you make take away one of the last facets of government accountability and proletariat sovereignty. The risks of guns is still better than the risks of not having them, the government is a lot more dangerous to us than any gun toting individual, although gun violence is still unacceptable and atrocious, don't get me wrong, the violence is a problem.

Now come the liberal counter arguments...bring it on...

And good government is most certainly not on their list.
