A little rant about bat names ingame...

I don't get it... people have spent hours and hours creating buildings, gardens, awesome landmarks. And they don't take a few seconds to name their work (in the menus or ingame) and you end with menus with generic lot names and broken thumbnails.

I guess it's because people like to create buildings, gardens, awesome landmarks, but don't like wading through menus and doing the modding work. Not such a big mystery.

 

By the way, if it's Japanese bats you are talking about, the names might just not show up in your character set, but are actually there.

It  may sound like a daunting task, but your best bet is to become familiar with the PIM tool and customize the name, occupancy, tileset, menu icon, etc. of everything you download.  Once you get to that point, you can build the city of your dreams, customized exactly as you want it.

 

This is what some of the best city journal authors do.  They might even re-lot buildings to make them perfect.

 

It wouldn't take you forever.  You just have to build up the will to start.  I'm not quite to that point yet

That is one good rant Cool_Z but just this morning, I was 3/4 done for my next update when SC4 crash without me being able to save the progress.... HAHAHA. Sorry for the off topic, I just feel like ranting too.

There are some launchers around who provide an automatic save... I don't know if they're worth it, heard some problems with them.

Wow, it's ok if you want to build a city like some here who plop almost everything. I download bats to add variety but I almost never plop. I really install lots and lots of different buildings, renaming each and every one would be a huge task... and naming it correctly would have taken a minimal amount of time for the batter ;)

But I wasn't joking. Some people her love batting, but hate doing anything in the Lot Editor. I could easily name a few. Some don't even care if you point an error with the lot out. But keep in mind that, in principle, at that point, it's even easier for you to fix it than for the creator.

Relotting and remodding BATs is not limited to ploppables. It's often even more necessary for growables, as their problems tend to multiply in a city.
