How do you make a MOD work?

does anyone know how to make these mods work on this website? I downloaded the mods I want to use and transferred them to the SimCity data folder and they are not working? so confused....

Which mods are specifically not working? Have you checked there aren't any other installation requirements or steps needed?

 

Remember you'll need to extract the contents of the .zip / .rar archive into the SimCityData folder. The files won't be read otherwise.

I have this problem when i was trying to download the Central train station mod. my computer said "how would you like to open this file?" i have the newer version of windows and it just wont download. all i need is to know how to download the mod.

Most of Oppie's mods (including the Central Train Station) are packaged in RAR archives.

 

To me it sounds like your computer doesn't recognise this file extension, so is unsure what to do with it. By default, Windows can only open and extract ZIP archives. So to fix it, you'll need to install some kind of file manager that has this capability. I'd personally recommend 7-Zip for this task -- a lightweight but very powerful tool.

 

Once configured and installed, you can associate 7-Zip with the list of supported file types. Make sure rar is checked in the options as follows:

 

 

Note: You may need to run the program as an administrator in order for the changes to be saved.

 

Once done, when attempting to download, a window will open (this is from Firefox, other browsers will display this slightly differently):

 

 

All you'll then need to do is extract the contents using 7-Zip into the SimCityData folder.

7-Zip also works with Windows 8 too.

 

The number 7 in the name has nothing to do with being only compatible for Win 7.
