I understand the reasons for Google as to also Facebook; twitter etc ...   all are companies of free services that transform your users into product  also

 

So if you do not want to be a product just not use the free service.

 

Now seriously ... have any expectation of privacy on the WEB in  nowadays is like wanting nude bathing in the "Fontana di Trevi"  and still have any hope that nobody is spying..

 

Anyone want privacy in your contacts ?

Better than Scroogle. And they are "legally compelled to comply" if the NSA has a search warrant or whatever. And yeah, we're all gonna hand out our AppleID usernames and passwords. Honestly... Google is putting your data out for everyone to see with this. MS and Apple are not.

Not surprising that Google would do this since it is kind of their MO to want to integrate their services and connect everything.

 

But I think the complaints are much ado about nothing. As things stand, anyone can share something with you on Google+, and you will get an email informing you of that having happened. Delivering the message directly to your email inbox rather than sending a message saying you got a message is really no different, it just cuts a step out of the process for you.

 

And your email address is not shared with the sender unless you choose to do so. So this does not enable people to use your email for nefarious purposes.

I have always known that the Internet is a public broadcast medium.  However, I don't believe in inviting the world in by using these so-called free services.  Anyone is free to become a marketable product by using them.

 

If I get anything from an unknown correspondent I take two actions:

1.  I examine the header and if it is some kind of scam, I forward it to my ISP for action.

2.  I delete it.

Some news sites are requiring you link your comments to your Facebook account, whicch by extension means your real name. This is done to prevent people from trolling, but it's policy implemented by the website in question. No law requires it.

Yahoo Mail is worse than GMail. Yahoo will give your information away with any request, regardless of whether there is a valid warrant, whether the entity making the request is a corporation or government, and whether the individual has any connections or is under the jurisdiction of any of the government agencies. China for instance has a lot of interest in Yahoo.

Yahoo is yet another "free" service, used by yahoos I gather.
