NEW HOLLAND

Let me tell you how the story begins...

In the summer of 2004 a few Dutch friends had planned a holiday trip to Florida; they were really looking forward to see the sunny beaches, make a trip through the Everglades, and relax even a bit more at some expensive beachresort.

So they took off from Schiphol Airport (Amsterdam), their bags stuffed. They just couldn

So, this is how the three adventurers started a search for gold and sheep! This is the route they took

Again, they started walking. They walked for hours and hours, through hills and forests. There was nobody on the road and they began to wonder if the priest had lied to them. Finally a truck stopped, and the driver offered to take them to the Mine, and even to the small village of Donkerven if they wanted to; all he asked for was a nice story about windmills, cheese and tulips...

Underway, they saw some very familiar things that reminded them of the good old days back home:

When they finally reached the goldmine, they discovered that it was completely abandoned...

Only in the nearby settlement lived some people..

All they could do is travel to the nearest village, Donkerven, and try to find work there. After some hours they arrived. This is what it looks like:

They thanked the truckdriver and shared some thoughts on what to do next. The village looked very pretty; there were some old remains of what once used to be a citywall with watchtowers. There were some farms and the people seemed friendly and curious. Bart and Mark preferred to stay here for a while. Find some work to do, and get used to the new way of living. But Paul had his own thoughts about it, although he didn

Btw, I forgot to ask an important question; I'm not a very experienced user, so from time to time I run into some trouble with posting etc.
I'd like to host my pics offsite, but don't know how to do that. Heard it's keeping the site faster
And, is there a limit to the number of pics (or their size in kb) you can upload at once? I have chopped this day's part in three, cause otherwise I run into an upload-error 26.gif

Host your pictures at imageshack , lots of people here do that (all you need to do is copy the image code when you upload your pic to imageshack.). There is no limit to posting photos here but the rule is 800x600 and 200KB or less.

BTW, your cities is looking good.

Thanx! I can assure you that some other citynames are much weirder. I think some of them you can't pronounce if you're not Dutch. But I'll translate it all! Btw Courier told me that Turtle Bay is actually full of turtles. At night they come out of the sea and lay eggs in the sand! Unfortunately there's no turtlemod available, so I can't show you.. You just have to take my word 9.gif

As promissed in my CJ , here I am and I am impressed with your CJ. I especially like the Introduction with the islands. I guess this will be one of the more interesting Journals on ST.
Wish you luck and I will be dropping in from time to time.

edit: update 2 has been removed. The pictures didn't show up because I misposted them; anyway: update 3 contains exactly the same info, so nothing is missing, I just accidentily named it update 3 instead of 2; have fun

NOTE: i have some problems hosting pics offsite. All seems correct, but after the upload the pics won't show up in the cj!! (at least i can't see them) So... I've done the whole thing again, sorry for this mess, but i hope you understand that i have to post it again to be sure everyone can see it!

    Update 3

At this point, the story becomes increasingly complex. We saw the two friends Bart and Mark, who decided to stay in Donkerven for a while; and Paul who has his own thoughts and planning his own journey now. Still, all three of them were tracked down by Courier, who provides the pictures and the last updates. However, Courier has to make a choice: does he also stay in Donkerven, or will he follow Paul on his way to the northern villages in the Messel Delta?

He decided to keep track of Paul, as he left in the middle of the night...

On his map, Paul planned to go to Arenburg, and see what it was like. To keep you informed as good as possible, I

You were quick with your comments!!!17.gif
Sorry for the false start; O and btw it's called update 3 now, but it's the same as 2 (but you can see... erhm..  read that)
But at least I know that it crashes sometimes. It won't happen again. Better slow than no pics I'd say
Still I really 32.gif because of these problems....
