Help Desperately Needed

Hello  :D

I'm in desperate need of help with my mods.

The mods I've created (go to the mod section of the site, they're the newest ones) for SimCity 4 suck. I've been told they need improvement, but I don't know how or what they need improvement on.

Could anyone tell me how I could improve (by downloading one of the mods, particularly the Free Landmarks one), because I need all the help I can get :(

One way to start would be to take a look at the BAT Request Thread in the forums to get an idea of what other people want.  You may get better reviews if you provide something in demand.

You could also try going to the STEX and sorting my "most popular" or "highest rated" to see what kind of mods do well.

I took a look at the mods you created.  They appear to be along the lines of "make things cost nothing, produce no pollution or garbage, etc."  Many people who frequent Simtropolis are very experienced at SC4, can run a city at a profit without any changes to the game's cost structure, and would therefore consider your mods too much like an unneeded "I win button".

I would say a good path forward would be to learn how to edit Lots and make BATs, using the tutorials in the Omnibus.  Then, begin by relotting something that the community wants relotted, like this:

Be sure to list the original file and author to give credit where credit is due.  Eventually, progress to making BATs.  To avoid negative reviews, before putting something on the STEX, make a new topic here:

and show pictures of what you've made to get advice.  That way, when you put your creations on the STEX, you can be sure they're ready, and will get some good reviews (there's still always the chance of a random bad one).

Sorry you've been having trouble.  I hope this advice helps.

Thanks a ton :) this has really helped. I'll be sure to change my ways of modding and follow your advice.
